The Catacombs don’t care how prepared anyone thinks they are. A brutal, unforgiving descent into an underground pixel-art dungeon, survival here comes down to reflexes, careful positioning, and knowing exactly when to fight, dodge, or run.

Catacomb Kids is a challenging platformer roguelike from developer Ravenous Fox, mixing tight, physics-driven combat with genuinely punishing procedural dungeons. Choosing from a variety of character classes, wielding weapons and magic that behave with real physical weight, and fighting through traps and aggressive enemies at every turn, you’ll push as deep into the Catacombs as skill allows, knowing most attempts won’t get far.

What Makes It Different?

  • Explore procedurally generated dungeons that punish every careless move
  • Fight with physics-driven combat where weapons and magic have real weight
  • Choose from a variety of classes, each with a distinct playstyle
  • Face brutal traps and aggressive enemies from the very first room
  • Discover a wide range of items and equipment to shape a build
  • Experience genuinely difficult, old-school platforming challenges
  • Push for personal bests as most runs end far sooner than expected

Combat With Real Weight Behind It

What sets Catacomb Kids apart from many platformer roguelikes is how physical everything feels. Swinging a weapon, casting a spell, or getting knocked back by an enemy all carry genuine momentum, meaning positioning and timing matter just as much as raw stats. That physicality extends to the dungeons themselves, since traps and hazards interact with that same physics engine, making careful movement essential from the very first screen.

Built to Punish Overconfidence

Catacomb Kids doesn’t ease players in gently. Early deaths within the first few minutes are common, and the game leans fully into that difficulty as part of the experience rather than something to be smoothed over. Learning enemy patterns, trap placements, and how a chosen class handles combat is the only real path toward pushing deeper, and every successful stretch further into the Catacombs feels genuinely earned.

How Long Does a Run Take?

The average run time for a single session is very short, often lasting anywhere from a few minutes to 15 minutes depending on how far progress goes. Many typical runs end within the first 1 to 3 minutes as players face brutal traps and aggressive enemies, while surviving multiple dungeon levels and progressing further can extend a single run toward 30 to 60 minutes. Median player playtime sits around 4.3 hours overall, reflecting how many quick, failed attempts players typically go through.

Controller Support

Catacomb Kids features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers. Support for other devices is not known.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed Downwell, Super House of Dead Ninjas, or Delver, Catacomb Kids’ mix of physics-driven combat and punishing platformer roguelike design should be well worth a look.
