The Dungeon Beneath
The Dungeon Beneath is a tactical roguelite autobattler where building the right party matters far more than quick reflexes. Before each fight, you arrange your characters across the board, decide who should face the greatest danger, and make any final changes to their equipment. Once the battle begins, your party takes over, leaving you to discover whether your carefully planned formation can survive what the dungeon has waiting in the next room.
Every descent gives you a different party to work with. You can choose from five heroes, recruit dozens of characters, and equip each party member with items that change their stats and abilities. One run might revolve around strengthening a dependable group of fighters, while another could be shaped by a rare artifact that gives the entire party a useful new effect. With randomly generated dungeon layouts, different enemies, and new equipment to uncover, reaching the deeper rooms depends on making the most of whatever you find along the way.
What Makes It Different?

- Campfires where party members can be levelled up or swapped for new recruits
- Up to three items can be equipped to each party member
- Equipment modifies character stats and abilities
- Rare artifacts provide effects that benefit the entire party
- Fast battles built around preparation and positioning rather than direct control
How It Plays
Each run begins by choosing a hero before gathering a party and heading into the dungeon. Every room introduces another group of enemies, but you won’t be attacking them directly. Your role is to study the board, position your characters where their abilities will be most useful, and then let the battle play out. A strong formation can make a difficult encounter look effortless, while one misplaced character may leave the rest of the party exposed.
The decisions become more involved as your party grows. Campfires give you the opportunity to level up useful characters or replace someone who no longer fits your strategy, while newly discovered equipment can change how individual party members perform. Since every character can carry up to three items, there is plenty of room to strengthen their best qualities or build around a particular ability.
Artifacts add another layer to each expedition by granting effects to the whole party. Finding the right one can influence which characters you recruit and how you arrange them, giving each run its own direction. The dungeon layout, enemies, equipment, and artifacts change between journeys, so progress relies on adapting your strategy rather than returning to the same dependable party every time.
