Unrailed!
Keeping a train moving sounds simple until you realize the tracks haven’t been built yet. Unrailed! throws you and your team into a series of procedurally generated worlds where every second is spent racing ahead of an unstoppable locomotive. Trees need chopping, rocks need mining, rails need crafting, and someone has to place them before the train reaches the end of the line. It’s a constant scramble where good communication is just as valuable as quick reactions.
Every journey becomes increasingly chaotic as the train gathers speed and new biomes introduce fresh obstacles, hazards, and opportunities. Whether you’re playing alone, working together in co-op, or causing complete mayhem with friends, each run revolves around adapting to the terrain, upgrading your train, and surviving just a little longer than the last attempt.

Teamwork Keeps the Train Alive
Success in Unrailed! has very little to do with individual skill and everything to do with how well everyone works together. One player might be clearing trees while another mines stone, someone else crafts rails, and another races ahead placing track before the locomotive arrives. If even one job falls behind, the entire operation can quickly unravel.
Playing solo is equally possible, but it transforms the experience into a frantic exercise in prioritization. Switching between tasks becomes a constant balancing act as you attempt to stay one step ahead of the accelerating train.
Every Biome Changes the Challenge
The journey isn’t simply one long stretch of railroad. As your train pushes deeper into the world, new biomes introduce different terrain and hazards that force your team to rethink how resources are gathered and tracks are laid.
Rivers, deserts, snowy landscapes, and other environments each create their own logistical problems, preventing runs from becoming repetitive. The train also becomes faster over time, steadily increasing the pressure regardless of how well things seem to be going.
Upgrading the Locomotive
Between stations, you’ll have opportunities to improve the train itself. New wagons and upgrades can increase storage capacity, improve efficiency, or provide useful abilities that help your team deal with the growing demands of later biomes.
Choosing which upgrades to prioritize adds another layer of strategy. A stronger train can solve one problem while leaving another untouched, encouraging teams to adapt their approach from one expedition to the next.
All Out Chaos Creates the Best Experience
Few cooperative roguelites create stories quite like Unrailed!. Perfectly coordinated plans can collapse in seconds after one misplaced rail or forgotten resource, while desperate last-second recoveries often become the moments players remember most.
Because every world is procedurally generated and the train never stops moving, each run develops its own rhythm. Some become carefully organized operations, while others descend into complete panic as everyone desperately tries to keep the locomotive on the tracks for just a little longer.
How Long Does a Run Take?
A typical run in Unrailed! lasts 20-40 minutes, although the exact length depends on your team’s coordination, chosen difficulty, and how long you can keep the train from derailing. Early mistakes can bring a run to an end in 10-20 minutes, while successful expeditions often reach 30-45 minutes as you progress through multiple biomes.
Endless Mode and custom difficulty settings can extend sessions to an hour or more for experienced teams chasing high scores.
Controller Support
Unrailed! offers full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. The developers also recommend playing with a controller, making it the preferred way to experience both solo play and cooperative sessions.
