Swordcery is an action roguelike where every run is shaped by the magical swords you find and the strange powers hidden inside them. You play as Colt, an unlikely hero exploring the world of Armorial after a colossal blade crashes into the land and sends enchanted weapons raining from the sky. From there, it is a fast-moving cycle of diving into procedurally generated dungeons, fighting through enemies and bosses, collecting relics, and deciding which sword gives you the best chance of surviving what comes next.
The swords are the real center of the experience. Each one carries its own Swordcery ability, so swapping weapons can completely change the way a run feels. One blade might return like a boomerang, another can call down lightning, while others create fiery fissures or surround Colt with icy protection. With six Sword Classes, more than 100 passive relics, class-changing upgrades, and permanent progression through the Divine Obelisk, there is plenty of room for each attempt to head in a different direction.

A New Sword Can Change Everything
Finding another weapon isn’t just a small damage upgrade. Every sword brings a different magical ability, and that can immediately change how you handle the room ahead. Some give you safer ways to attack from range, others help control crowded spaces, and a few are built around protecting Colt when getting close becomes too dangerous.
The Sword Class matters just as much as the ability attached to it. Each class comes with its own light attack combinations and heavy attacks, so switching weapons can also mean changing your rhythm, positioning, and preferred distance from enemies. A blade that feels awkward in one situation may become exactly what you need in the next.
Turning Relics Into a Build
More than 100 passive relics can appear across a run, giving you plenty of ways to build around whatever swords and class upgrades you uncover. One attempt might push you toward a particular magical ability, while another could make your standard attacks far more important.
Ethereal Steel upgrades also change the light and heavy attacks of each Sword Class. The best runs come from finding upgrades that work together, but a powerful new sword can always tempt you into changing direction halfway through.
Reading the Fight Before It Hits You
Enemies telegraph their attacks, so surviving depends on spotting patterns and reacting before the damage lands. Swordcery may move quickly, but charging in without watching the battlefield is likely to end a run just as quickly.
Melee combos keep you close to the action, while Swordcery abilities provide ways to strike from range, control space, or buy yourself room when a fight starts closing in. Resource management also matters, meaning your strongest abilities cannot be used carelessly every time an enemy appears.
More Power Waiting at the Obelisk
The Divine Obelisk Skill Tree holds more than 40 permanent roguelite upgrades for Colt. Those improvements carry across runs, giving each failure some value and gradually opening the door to more ambitious attempts.
Swordcery is planned to enter Early Access with three of its four levels available, alongside its existing swords, relics, classes, bosses, and permanent upgrade systems. The fourth level, additional weapons, further systems, and other content remain part of the developer’s plans for the full release rather than confirmed features of the initial Early Access version.
