Sundered®: Eldritch Edition is a roguevania that combines hand-crafted exploration with procedurally generated rooms, creating an adventure where familiar landmarks remain while the path between them constantly changes. As Eshe, a wanderer trapped inside mysterious caverns filled with Eldritch horrors, you’ll search for powerful relics, unlock new abilities, and decide whether to resist or embrace the corrupting power surrounding you.

Exploration plays a central role throughout the journey. New movement abilities gradually open previously unreachable areas, encouraging you to revisit earlier locations in search of upgrades, secrets, and optional challenges. At the same time, enormous enemy hordes can descend without warning, turning a quiet expedition into a frantic battle for survival before you continue deeper into the world.

What Makes It Different?

  • Explore a hand-crafted world connected by procedurally generated rooms
  • Unlock movement abilities that reveal new paths and hidden areas
  • Battle massive hordes of enemies alongside giant boss encounters
  • Choose whether to resist or embrace Eldritch powers
  • Discover relics and permanent upgrades throughout the adventure
  • Unlock three different endings based on your decisions
  • Enjoy local co-op with up to four players
  • Experience fully hand-drawn art and animation

Exploration Rewards Curiosity

Progress isn’t measured by simply reaching the next objective. Many of the most valuable discoveries come from returning to earlier areas after unlocking a new ability, where hidden passages and forgotten corners often conceal upgrades that make future battles far more manageable.

Because the world’s layout shifts between visits, exploration never becomes entirely predictable. You may recognize the destination, but getting there often requires adapting to a different route.

Power Comes With a Choice

As Eshe grows stronger, you’ll face an important decision throughout the adventure. Powerful Eldritch abilities offer new ways to approach combat, but accepting that power changes more than just your arsenal.

That choice gives each playthrough a different feel while also leading toward one of the game’s three endings. Whether you resist corruption or embrace it completely, your decisions continue shaping the journey until the very end.

Surviving the Swarm

Quiet moments rarely stay quiet for long. One of Sundered’s defining features is its sudden enemy swarms, where overwhelming numbers force you to react quickly while making full use of the abilities you’ve unlocked.

Those encounters create a different pace from many exploration-focused roguevanias. One minute you’re carefully searching for hidden paths, and the next you’re fighting your way through an enormous wave of enemies before pressing onward.

How Long Does a Run Take?

A playthrough of Sundered®: Eldritch Edition typically takes 10 to 12 hours if you’re focused on the main story. Exploring optional areas and collecting more upgrades increases that to around 15 hours, while unlocking every secret and seeing all three endings can take 20.5 hours or more.

Controller Support

Sundered®: Eldritch Edition offers full controller support for Xbox controllers.

Good If You Like…

Fans of A Robot Named Fight!, Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy 2, and Skul: The Hero Slayer should feel right at home with Sundered®: Eldritch Edition. Like those games, it rewards exploration, meaningful progression, and discovering new abilities, while its procedurally generated world and massive enemy swarms give every journey its own rhythm.
