Welcome to Mt. Holly, where every dawn unveils a new mystery. Somewhere within its shifting corridors and ever-changing chambers lies the rumored Room 46, and reaching it means drafting a new floor plan every single day, learning a little more about the manor’s secrets each time you fail.
Blue Prince is a genre-defying strategy puzzle adventure from developer Dogubomb, blending exploration, mystery, and roguelike structure into something genuinely unlike anything else. Deciding what lies behind each closed door, gathering tools and clues along the way, and carrying forward whatever permanent upgrades you’re clever enough to find, you’ll piece together the manor’s secrets one unpredictable day at a time.
What Makes It Different?
- Draft your own floor plan by choosing what room appears behind each door
- Explore a manor that resets its layout completely at the start of every day
- Uncover items and tools that unlock creative new ways to explore deeper
- Carry forward permanent upgrades to your estate blueprint between attempts
- Investigate a mystery tangled up in blackmail, political intrigue, and a missing author
- Piece together clues that reshape your understanding of the manor over time
- Experience a genuinely unpredictable journey where no two days play out the same
Every Door Is a Decision
Reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly hands real power over to the player, since choosing what lies beyond it shapes the entire day’s path. Some rooms hold tools that fuel exploration deeper into the house, while others hide secrets that only make sense much later. Drafting carelessly can leave a day cut short, so every decision about which room to reveal next carries real weight, especially with the manor resetting completely by the following dawn.
Knowledge Is the Real Progress
Since the house wipes itself clean each morning, permanent upgrades to the estate blueprint become the only progress that reliably carries over between attempts, unless a run happens to uncover one. Far more valuable, though, is what a player learns along the way. Threads of blackmail, political intrigue, and a local children’s book author’s mysterious disappearance slowly come into focus the deeper the manor is explored, turning every failed day into another piece of a much larger puzzle.
How Long Does a Run Take?
The average run length typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours. This is because each in-game day requires completing a series of puzzles and exploring the manor, and the game does not allow saving in the middle of a day. Under unfavorable conditions, a run can end in as little as 10 to 30 minutes, while experienced players or those completing specific challenges can finish a single run in under an hour. Reaching Room 46 to complete the main story takes the average player between 15 to 30 hours total, while seeing everything the game has to offer can take anywhere from 60 to over 100 hours.
Controller Support
Blue Prince features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers and DualSense Controllers.
Good If You Like…
If you enjoyed Inscryption or Roguebook, Blue Prince’s mix of mystery, strategy, and roguelike structure should be well worth exploring. It’s a genuinely singular experience though, so don’t expect anything else to match it exactly, it’s bundled with Inscryption on Steam for good reason.
