Each match of Skillshot City drops you into an open city where you farm cops, gang enemies, supply drops, and missions to earn experience and outpace other players. Every time you level up you choose between two randomly generated skills, and the entire shape of your run pivots on those snap decisions—Bouncing Bullets or Teleportation, Invisibility or Regeneration. The game is free to play.
Developed by Ben Johnson (bencelot), Skillshot City is a PvP roguelite battle royale structured around three short rounds, each ending in a high-stakes showdown roughly every five minutes. Winners of the first two rounds select modifiers that alter conditions for the remaining match, and your skill build carries forward from round to round rather than resetting. The shrinking circle forces constant risk-reward calculation: deeper farming means more power but greater exposure, and dying late costs more than dying early.
What separates it from standard battle royales is the zombie layer. Players who die do not queue again—they respawn in a zombie mode that lets them keep looting and leveling outside the circle, with a path back into the match if they collect enough hearts off surviving players. This removes all downtime and keeps everyone in the game regardless of when they were eliminated. Matches support solos, duos, and trios.
Between matches, players unlock new skills, classes, and round modifiers—more than a hundred in total—and can equip specific skills to make them appear more frequently inside runs. Eight distinct classes each carry different strategic identities. A singleplayer and co-op survival mode with leaderboards and adjustable difficulty sits alongside the PvP content. Players who strongly prefer deterministic builds over randomized draft decisions tend to find the moment-to-moment skill selection frustrating rather than exciting.
The game launched on May 23, 2017 and has maintained a steady update arc. A notable mechanical layer called the Syringe Gambit arrived in March 2026, followed by several months of balance passes and syringe mutation tuning. Duos mode was added in June 2026. The same period brought a reworked Mirror Image skill, simple reroll options, and repeated balance changes responding to player feedback. A new cosmetics system built around premium modifiers launched in January 2026, while earlier updates in late 2025 hardened cop encounters and introduced kill streaks. By mid-2026 the team shifted focus toward making match placement carry more weight in ranking, alongside continued skill balancing.
