Every attack in Revita costs health. BenStar’s twin-stick roguelite platformer, released April 21, 2022, puts an unnamed child at the base of a vast clocktower with no memories and a weapon that drains the very resource keeping them alive. Spending health to fire creates a permanent tension between aggression and survival that no item pickup fully resolves.

Runs proceed through procedurally generated encounter rooms stacked vertically up the clocktower, broken by boss fights that gate further ascent. Movement is built around twin-stick shooting, dashing, and wall-sliding, and each run layers on power-ups that can push the child toward fragile, overwhelming offense or a more measured approach. The glass-cannon design means a strong item combination can feel spectacular and collapse just as fast. A subway network beneath the tower serves as the between-run hub, populated by masked characters who offer services and story.

  • Health-as-ammunition economy governs every combat decision
  • Procedural room generation across a vertical clocktower structure
  • Twin-stick shooting combined with dash and wall-slide mobility
  • Boss encounters gating each major ascent tier
  • Extensive accessibility options: time-slow, enemy outlines, adjustable aim assist
  • Separate underground metro hub with persistent NPCs

Revita’s post-launch history shows sustained development. Within months of release BenStar was already reworking room generation, and by September 2022 a substantial 2.0.0 Beta went live. December 2022 brought further reworks and additions. Through 2023 the developer continued refining progression systems, with a dedicated progression-changes update in July and a frank “Current and Future State” communication in October, revised the following month. A “Revita Refocused” post in April 2023 signaled a deliberate shift in direction around the game’s first anniversary. Into early 2024 the developer was still publishing roadmap updates, suggesting the game remained an active project well past its initial release window.

Players who enjoy working out damage-survival trade-offs run by run, and who want a platformer that punishes passivity at a mechanical level rather than a resource-scarcity one, will find Revita’s central constraint genuinely distinctive.
