Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a bullet heaven roguelite where you command a growing squad of heavily armed survivors against thousands of undead. Your characters aim and attack automatically, leaving you to focus on movement, positioning, and the upgrades that shape the team. You can begin with a lone SWAT soldier before recruiting additional mercenaries, gradually turning one fighter into a full squad carrying weapons such as katanas, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers.

Each run gives you control over how that squad develops. You can spread upgrades across several characters, invest in perks and support skills, or focus heavily on one survivor to alter their equipment and unlock ultimate abilities. Permanent upgrades continue strengthening your options between attempts, while additional challenge systems let you increase the power and speed of the virus before eventually moving into a prestige system designed for players who want to keep pushing beyond the standard progression.

  • Includes permanent upgrades that can be reset
  • Lets you strengthen the virus to make enemies faster and more dangerous
  • Features a prestige system for further progression
  • Includes three maps and five game modes

Building a Squad From the Ground Up

The squad system changes how you approach each run. Recruiting another survivor adds a new source of damage and opens more opportunities for different weapon combinations, but every upgrade still requires a decision about where the team’s strength should go. Improving several characters can create a more balanced group, while concentrating resources on one favorite survivor can push their equipment and abilities much further.

Perks and support skills provide additional ways to shape the team around the weapons and characters you have assembled. Since your squad handles the aiming and firing, much of the active challenge comes from steering everyone through the horde, avoiding being surrounded, and giving the group enough room to keep attacking.

Evolving Weapons and Abilities

Weapons and abilities form the backbone of every build, with 40 weapons and 32 abilities available in the current version. Each ability has two possible evolutions, allowing familiar tools to develop in different directions as the run continues.

The characters themselves also bring their own special skills and equipment possibilities. Choosing which survivor receives the next improvement can affect the entire squad, particularly once ultimate abilities begin entering the build. This gives you room to experiment with teams that distribute their power evenly or revolve around one heavily upgraded specialist.

Making the Horde Even Stronger

Permanent upgrades allow you to prepare for future attempts by specializing in the areas that suit your preferred approach. These choices are not permanent, as the upgrade setup can be reset when you want to try a different direction.

Once the standard challenge is no longer enough, you can increase the strength of the virus, making the undead faster and more dangerous. The prestige system adds another level beyond that, providing a way to continue progressing after reaching the upper end of the regular upgrade structure.

Good If You Like…
