The Spell Brigade is an online co-op survivors-like for one to four players where you fight through enormous hordes of monsters as a team of wizards. Every run revolves around surviving together, completing shared objectives, and strengthening your spells with new upgrades and synergies. There’s one important complication, though: your magic can hurt your teammates just as easily as it can destroy the enemy, turning every battle into a careful balance between coordination and complete chaos.

Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, each run encourages you to build increasingly powerful combinations by improving, augmenting, and infusing your spells. Enchantments, Quests, Scrolls, and the number of wizards in your party all influence how your build develops, while random team-based objectives keep every expedition moving in new directions.

What Makes It Different?

  • Play solo or online with up to four players
  • Complete random team-based objectives throughout each run
  • Upgrade spells together as a group
  • Friendly fire means your spells can damage both allies and yourself
  • Use Revive Cores to bring yourself and teammates back into battle
  • Improve, augment, and infuse spells with different elements and upgrades
  • Combine spells with Enchantments, Quests, and Scrolls to create different synergies
  • Build changes depending on the size of your wizard squad

Surviving Together Is the Real Challenge

Working as a team offers obvious advantages when thousands of creatures are filling the screen, but The Spell Brigade never lets cooperation become completely comfortable. Every spell has the potential to catch another player in the blast, meaning positioning matters just as much as choosing the right upgrades. Large attacks can clear huge groups of enemies, but they can also send your allies back to the respawn screen if you’re not paying attention.

Fortunately, death doesn’t always mean the end of the run. Revive Cores allow fallen wizards to return to the fight while creating an explosive effect that can damage nearby enemies at the same time. A mistake can quickly become another opportunity to turn the battle back in your favour, provided someone survives long enough to bring the team back together.

Stronger Spells Through Every Run

Each run gives you opportunities to reshape how your magic behaves. Spells can be improved, infused with different elements, and enhanced through a range of upgrades, while Enchantments, Quests, and Scrolls add further layers to your build. The combinations available depend on what you discover during the run, encouraging experimentation with different spell synergies instead of following the same approach every time.

The size of your party also influences how those builds develop. A solo run plays differently from a full group of four wizards, with more spells filling the battlefield and more opportunities for both teamwork and friendly fire. The result is a survivors-like that focuses as much on cooperating with your fellow spellcasters as surviving the monsters themselves.

Good If You Like…

Players who enjoy Vampire Survivors, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Brotato, or Soulstone Survivors should appreciate The Spell Brigade’s combination of bullet heaven combat, cooperative play, and spell-focused roguelite progression.
