Every run starts alone. Choosing a route across the map, fighting for survival, and slowly building a squad of companions along the way, the only way forward is deeper, and every piece of loot picked up could be the difference between victory and disaster.
Lootbound is a tactical roguelite from developer ArtDock, combining turn-based combat, loot management, and D&D-inspired elements. Recruiting companions, arranging gear across a shared grid inventory, and assembling boss parts to shape the final Guardian, you’ll fight dangerous enemies and build toward a squad capable of surviving whatever the dark fantasy world throws at it.
What Makes It Different?
- Recruit companions along the way to build a squad from a solo start
- Manage equipment for both your hero and every companion in a shared grid inventory
- Discover item auras that strengthen weapons or armor in adjacent cells
- Watch companions act on their own with AI-driven abilities in combat
- Choose boss parts at the end of each biome to shape the final Guardian
- Gamble on risk and reward rooms, where tougher dice rolls unlock rarer loot
- Build toward a final showdown against a boss shaped entirely by your choices
Every Cell in the Grid Matters
Lootbound’s inventory isn’t just about picking the strongest gear available. Items lack fixed slots, so rotating and repositioning them across a shared grid becomes part of the strategy, especially once auras come into play. Some items boost whatever sits in an adjacent cell, meaning moving a single piece of gear by one space can completely change how an entire build performs. Balancing equipment across a hero and multiple companions turns that puzzle into something that has to be solved again and again as the squad grows.
Build Your Own Final Boss
Rather than facing a fixed final encounter, Lootbound lets choices made throughout a run shape exactly what’s waiting at the end. Selecting one of two boss parts at the close of each biome changes the Guardian’s appearance and power, meaning the final fight is built piece by piece out of decisions made along the way. Risk and reward rooms add another layer of tension too, offering rarer rewards to players willing to gamble on a tougher dice roll to get them.
How Long Does a Run Take?
An individual run typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes. The exact duration depends on playstyle, combat pace, and how much time is spent organizing items in the grid inventory. Since the game doubles as a backpack organizer, players often spend a significant portion of a run rotating and combining items in the grid, and because combat is turn-based and requires strategic party building, a run can last closer to an hour when moves are carefully calculated. Shorter, direct paths can be completed in about 30 minutes, while taking on additional encounters to maximize loot extends the run time further.

Lootbound features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers, DualShock Controllers over USB, and DualSense Controllers.
