The Ember Guardian
The sun doesn’t stay up for long, and that’s a problem when every night brings another wave of creatures determined to tear your camp apart. The Ember Guardian divides each run between careful preparation and frantic defense, rewarding players who can make the most of the quieter daylight hours before darkness arrives.
The Ember Guardian is a roguelike base-defense game where you’ll gather resources, recruit workers, and strengthen your camp during the day before taking up arms to defend it at night. Every run encourages you to balance expansion with survival, gradually building a stronger settlement while preparing for increasingly dangerous attacks.
What Makes It Different?
- Alternate between daytime base building and nighttime defense
- Gather resources and recruit workers to strengthen your camp
- Build and improve your defenses before each nightfall
- Fight off increasingly dangerous waves of creatures
- Play through campaign levels or roguelike Horde Mode
- Save and continue your progress between day and night cycles
- Experiment with different strategies across repeated runs
Every Day Counts
Daylight never seems to last quite long enough. Every minute is spent deciding whether to gather more resources, expand your defenses, or recruit additional workers before the next attack begins.
Those choices shape the rest of the run. A well-prepared camp can make the coming night far more manageable, while a few rushed decisions often leave you scrambling once the enemies arrive.
Nights Put Everything to the Test
Once darkness falls, the focus shifts from planning to survival. The defenses you’ve built and the preparations you’ve made are finally put to the test as wave after wave of creatures closes in on your camp.
That contrast between the two phases gives each run a satisfying rhythm. The quieter moments during the day naturally build tension, making the nighttime battles feel all the more rewarding when your strategy pays off.
Built Around Flexible Sessions
Whether you prefer to move quickly or carefully plan every step, The Ember Guardian gives you room to play at your own pace. Faster players can push through runs more aggressively, while others may spend longer refining their base before facing the next assault.
The ability to save between the daytime and nighttime phases also makes it easy to step away without losing your progress, making longer runs much easier to fit around your schedule.
How Long Does a Run Take?
A typical run in The Ember Guardian lasts between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on how much time you spend building your camp and preparing your defenses. Because you can save and continue between the day and night cycles, you don’t need to complete an entire run in a single sitting.
Controller Support
The Ember Guardian offers full controller support for Xbox controllers.
