Nuevo Tokyo has been taken over by the Narkuzas, a ruling class formed when Narcos and Yakuzas joined forces, and taking the city back means fighting through its streets one gang at a time. Mexican Ninja is a fast 2.5D roguelike beat ’em up built around precise movement, positioning, and well-timed attacks, with every encounter giving you another opportunity to string together combos and send enemies flying. The controls are designed to be easy to pick up, but surviving the later fights depends on learning how to move through crowds without letting them surround you.

Every run gives you new ways to shape that fighting style. You’ll unlock ninja skills by training with el Mero Mero Sensei, earn the favor of Mexican-Japanese spirits, and combine their powers into builds that change how you approach combat. The Way of the Donkey skill tree opens additional options between attempts, while hidden outfits give you more ways to customize the Mexican Ninja as you prepare to challenge the five heads of the Narkuza clan.

Keeping Control of the Street

Fights can quickly fill the screen with Narkuzas, so charging into the middle of every group won’t get you very far. Movement and positioning decide whether you can keep a combo going or end up trapped between several enemies at once.

Well-timed attacks give you room to stay aggressive without losing control of the crowd. The more comfortable you become with the rhythm of each move, the easier it is to shift between targets, punish openings, and stop enemies from surrounding you.

Finding Your Own Way to Fight

Mexican Ninja doesn’t lock every run into the same set of attacks. New skills and spirit powers give you different tools to work with, allowing each build to lean toward the combinations that suit how you prefer to play.

Some choices may strengthen the attacks you already rely on, while others can open up completely different combos or Mexican Jutsus. Experimenting with those powers is a major part of each attempt, especially when a new combination changes how you handle larger groups.

Training With El Mero Mero Sensei

El Mero Mero Sensei is responsible for teaching you new ninja skills, expanding what the Mexican Ninja can do as you continue fighting through Nuevo Tokyo. These unlocks give future runs more possibilities and gradually widen the range of builds available to you.

The Way of the Donkey provides another source of progression. Its skill tree lets you continue developing your fighting style between attempts, giving you more options before heading back into the streets.

Calling on Mexican-Japanese Spirits

Powerful spirits can lend their abilities during a run, adding supernatural attacks and effects to your build. Their influence gives combat more room to change beyond the basic punches, kicks, and weapon strikes you’d expect from a traditional beat ’em up.

Choosing powers that work together can create much stronger combinations, while picking abilities without a clear direction may leave the build struggling later. Finding the right mix is how an ordinary run begins turning into something capable of taking on the Narkuzas’ leaders.
