When the floating cities were built above the waves, nobody knew something far worse was waiting in the dark below. Diving into that undersea system means facing dwindling oxygen, hostile wildlife, and a mission that only gets stranger the deeper it goes.

Feed the Deep is a Lovecraftian roguelike from developer Luke Muscat, the creator of Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride. Diving into an ever-changing system of undersea caves, collecting resources to trade for upgrades and items, and managing dark spaces and limited oxygen, you’ll explore ever deeper on a mission to Feed the Deep itself.

What Makes It Different?

  • Dive into procedurally generated undersea caves that change with every expedition
  • Manage limited oxygen while exploring dark, unpredictable spaces
  • Collect resources to trade for upgrades and useful items
  • Face hostile wildlife lurking in the depths below
  • Explore at your own pace, whether diving fast and aggressive or slow and cautious
  • Drop markers along the way to navigate the caves more safely
  • Take in an atmospheric deep-sea adventure scored by award-winning composer Cedar Jones

Dive However You Want

Feed the Deep leaves the pace entirely up to the player. Diving fast and aggressive pushes deeper quickly, but leaves less room to react to danger, while exploring slowly and dropping markers along the way trades speed for a much safer, more methodical descent. Oxygen and hostile wildlife both punish carelessness, so finding a rhythm that matches a preferred playstyle becomes essential the deeper the caves go.

Inspired by Dome Keeper and Spelunky

Built almost entirely solo by Luke Muscat, Feed the Deep draws direct inspiration from Dome Keeper and Spelunky, filtered through its own Lovecraftian twist. That blend of steady resource gathering and unpredictable, procedurally generated danger gives it a genuinely tense atmosphere, backed by a soundtrack that leans hard into the deep-sea horror on display.

How Long Does a Run Take?

An average individual run takes roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour. The exact time depends heavily on playstyle and how fast the procedurally generated sea caves get navigated. A slow, thorough run focused on exploring, gathering resources, and buying upgrades can take 45 minutes to 1 hour, while an average pace diving in, grabbing necessary resources, and completing the mission runs closer to 30 to 40 minutes. Highly skilled players rushing the objectives can speedrun a full attempt in 2 to 4 minutes, while early deaths from running out of air or being killed by a sea monster tend to land around 10 to 20 minutes. Completing the main story overall takes players an average of about 2.5 hours.

Controller Support

Feed the Deep features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers and DualShock Controllers.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed Dive The Depths, Spelunky, or DEEP DIVER, Feed the Deep’s mix of underwater exploration and roguelike survival should be well worth a look. It’s directly inspired by Dome Keeper and Spelunky too, so that DNA runs through it as well.
