Until You Fall

Until You Fall, developed by Schell Games, drops players into the crystallized ruins of Rokar, a fallen civilization whose magical Aether has been twisted into monsters and corrupted spirits. As the last Rune Knight, you fight through procedurally arranged rooms in runs that shuffle enemy configurations, rewards, and powerups each attempt, with a Runesmith NPC serving as the between-run hub for weapon forging and progression.

Combat is entirely physical: every attack, block, spell cast, and dodge requires real arm and body movement, synchronized to a driving synthwave soundtrack. Enemies are not generic fodder — each type demands adapted tactics, forcing players to read threats rather than repeat the same motions. Weapons span one-handed and two-handed options, each changing how you approach positioning and timing. The game lands toward the demanding end of the spectrum; staying alive requires sustained physical engagement, not just mechanical knowledge.

The game spent time in early access before it released on October 27, 2020. Version 1.1.2 followed in January 2021, and a second anniversary festival ran in late 2021. The most substantial post-launch update was Version 1.3.0 in March 2022, which added two-handed weapons and received a hotfix shortly after as 1.3.1. Schell Games marked the game’s second anniversary in October 2022 with an Aetherversary Festival event, and community activity including giveaways continued into mid-2023.
