Stacklands is a village builder where every villager, resource, building, and creature is represented by a card. Rather than navigating menus or placing structures across a traditional map, you develop your settlement by dragging cards on top of one another. Putting a Villager onto a Berry Bush produces food, while combining the right materials with a worker can create entirely new cards, gradually turning a small collection of supplies into a busy village.

Keeping that village alive requires more than discovering useful combinations. At the end of every Moon, each villager needs to be fed, so food production must keep pace as your population grows. Cards can also be sold for coins, which are used to purchase themed Card Packs containing new resources and opportunities. Between feeding your villagers, expanding production, completing quests, and dealing with hostile creatures, even a tidy stack of cards can quickly become a demanding little settlement.

What Makes It Different?

  • Builds an entire village from cards placed and stacked on a tabletop
  • Uses physical card combinations to gather resources and construct buildings
  • Requires every villager to be fed at the end of each Moon
  • Lets you sell unwanted cards for coins
  • Includes 13 Card Packs focused on areas such as cooking, farming, and building
  • Features more than 200 cards to collect
  • Includes more than 60 Ideas that reveal new crafting combinations
  • Offers more than 50 quests to complete
  • Uses automatic combat when villagers encounter hostile creatures
  • Lets villagers equip weapons or fight enemies together

Every Stack Has a Purpose

Most actions in Stacklands begin by placing one card onto another. A villager can harvest from a resource card, work on a construction recipe, or enter combat simply by being moved into the right position. This makes managing the village feel direct and tactile, but it also means the tabletop can become increasingly crowded as food, materials, buildings, animals, and villagers begin piling up.

Idea Cards help make sense of the growing number of possibilities. Each one reveals a recipe for creating something new, such as combining wood, stone, and a villager to build a house. Finding additional Ideas expands what the settlement can produce, giving you new reasons to reorganize your cards and rethink how available resources should be used.

Feeding the Village Comes First

Every Moon ends with a food check, and each villager must have something to eat. Growing the population provides more workers for harvesting, building, and fighting, but it also increases the amount of food you need to produce before the timer runs out. Expanding too quickly can leave the village unable to support itself, even when plenty of other resources are available.

Card Packs offer one way to solve those problems. Selling cards earns coins that can be spent on packs, with each pack built around a particular area of village life. Buying the right one can provide the materials needed to complete a recipe or improve food production, although its contents are not guaranteed to solve the most immediate problem.

When the Cards Fight Back

Not every card is useful or friendly. Goblins, bears, rats, and other creatures can appear, and placing a villager against one begins an automatic battle. Villagers can be strengthened with weapons, while several of them can join the same fight when one defender is not enough.

Combat becomes another demand on the settlement’s resources. A villager assigned to fight is not gathering food or helping with construction, while producing equipment requires materials that could have been used elsewhere. Survival depends on keeping every part of the village working together, even when the tabletop becomes crowded and the next Moon is approaching.

Good If You Like…

Players who enjoy Against the Storm, Cardboard Town, Luck be a Landlord, or DotAGE should appreciate Stacklands’ combination of card-based management, resource planning, discovery, and compact village building.
