Pass the Fear
Being outnumbered is only the beginning in Pass the Fear. Every run starts with a desperate attempt to escape a cursed island before dawn, but surviving long enough to reach the coast is only half the battle. Standing in your way is the towering Wall of Storms, a supernatural barrier that traps everyone inside while monstrous creatures close in from every direction.
You’ll assemble an unlikely band of demon hunters, each terrified of dying but with little choice except to keep fighting. Whether you’re playing solo or with friends, every expedition becomes an experiment in creating increasingly ridiculous weapon combinations, stacking relics, Tarot cards, elemental effects, and modifiers until the battlefield is filled with projectiles, explosions, and screen-clearing chain reactions. The more you play, the more opportunities you unlock to push those builds even further.
What Makes It Different?
- Escape a cursed island before dawn while uncovering the mystery behind the Wall of Storms
- Choose from a growing roster of unique characters, each with their own playstyle
- Create outrageous weapon builds using firearms, weapon parts, relics, Tarot cards, elemental effects, and affixes
- Discover hundreds of possible combinations that can completely transform how your build plays
- Unlock permanent Character Talents and Squad Perks between runs
- Collect seemingly worthless scraps that gradually piece together the island’s hidden story
- Play alone or tackle runs in online co-op with friends
How It Plays
Every run revolves around finding loot that turns an ordinary weapon into something completely absurd. Guns can be modified with weapon parts, relics add powerful bonuses, Tarot cards reshape your build, while affixes such as Fragment, Growth, Final Shot, and Disruption combine in unexpected ways to produce wildly different results. Rather than chasing a single optimal strategy, Pass the Fear encourages experimentation, rewarding players who discover unusual synergies capable of filling the screen with devastating attacks.
New Character Talents and Squad Perks provide permanent upgrades that open fresh possibilities for future attempts, while the story slowly unfolds through items scattered across the battlefield. Alongside the relentless bullet-hell action, you’ll also encounter mechanics like aggro management, item trading, and DPS challenges that add another layer of decision-making beyond simply surviving enemy swarms.
The result is a roguelite that’s built around constant escalation. Every new pickup has the potential to completely change your build, and by the end of a successful run you’ll often be wielding a weapon that barely resembles the one you started with.
Good If You Like…
Players who enjoy Enter the Gungeon, Soulstone Survivors, Dead Estate, Neon Abyss, or other action roguelites built around outrageous build synergies and satisfying bullet-filled combat should find plenty to experiment with in Pass the Fear.
