Othercide is a turn-based tactical roguelite where every battle revolves around difficult decisions that carry lasting consequences. You command an army of Daughters, the echoes of the greatest warrior to ever live, as they fight against nightmarish manifestations of Suffering. Every mission demands careful positioning, precise timing, and long-term planning, because losing a Daughter is never a simple setback. Sometimes the only way to keep your strongest warrior alive is to sacrifice another, permanently passing her strength to a survivor who will carry it into the next battle.

Failure is woven directly into the progression rather than acting as the end of the journey. When an army falls, a new Recollection begins, allowing you to return stronger through permanent Remembrances while building another generation of Daughters. Each attempt provides another opportunity to refine your strategy, unlock new advantages, and push deeper into the campaign, turning every defeat into preparation for the next assault.

Every Turn Has Consequences

Combat revolves around the Dynamic Timeline System, where understanding when an action happens can be just as important as what action you choose. Every attack, movement, and ability changes turn order, allowing you to delay enemies, accelerate allies, or create long chains of actions before opponents have a chance to respond.

Managing action points is equally important. Spending too many during a turn exhausts a Daughter, pushing her further back on the timeline and giving enemies more opportunities to act. Battles quickly become a balancing act between acting aggressively now or preserving a stronger position for the turns ahead.

Strength Through Sacrifice

The most distinctive part of Othercide is how it treats loss. Daughters cannot simply be restored after every mission. To fully heal one, another must be sacrificed, permanently giving her life so the survivor can continue fighting. The surviving Daughter also inherits additional power, making these decisions meaningful beyond the immediate battle.

Every Daughter also grows differently over time. As they level up, you’ll choose between new abilities, allowing members of the same class to develop in different directions depending on the needs of your army. Combined with the Blademaster, Shieldbearer, and Soulslinger classes, this creates plenty of opportunities to build squads around different tactical approaches.

Growing Stronger Across Recollections

When a Recollection ends, your army may be gone, but your progress is not. Permanent Remembrances carry over between attempts, unlocking bonuses that make future campaigns more manageable while encouraging you to experiment with different strategies. Some strengthen every Daughter from the beginning, while others improve the resources available for the next run.

This progression transforms repeated failures into meaningful advancement. Rather than simply restarting from the beginning, every Recollection gives you new tools to confront the same horrors with a stronger army, better preparation, and a deeper understanding of the tactical systems that define each battle.
