The hotel itself is every bit as dangerous as the monsters hiding inside it. Sunlight streams through windows, shadows creep across corridors, and the safest path can disappear completely as the day turns to night. Then, just when you’ve grown comfortable fighting vampires, you become one yourself, forcing you to rethink everything you thought you knew about surviving the dungeon.

Golden Krone Hotel follows vampire hunter Sorina Arobase on a mission to hunt down the exiled vampire prince Fane. Armed with a sword, revolver, and spellbook, you’ll fight your way through a procedurally generated hotel filled with bloodthirsty enemies, choosing one of 18 disguises before each run to shape your journey. Every decision matters, from identifying mysterious potions to deciding whether it’s safer to embrace the darkness or keep the light on your side.

What makes the adventure so memorable is the constant shift between two completely different playstyles. Humans rely on weapons and magic while remaining physically fragile. Vampires trade those advantages for incredible speed, strength, and the ability to heal by drinking blood, but become dangerously vulnerable to sunlight and water. Learning when to lean into each form becomes just as important as mastering combat itself.

What Makes It Different?

  • Every run requires you to play as both a human and a vampire, each with unique strengths and weaknesses
  • Fully dynamic lighting allows you to weaponize sunlight or extinguish light sources to hide in darkness
  • A potion identification system rewards experimentation and calculated risk-taking
  • Choose from 18 disguises before each run to change your starting strengths
  • Explore 10 main floors alongside 22 optional branches filled with over 90 unique monsters
  • Designed as a streamlined traditional roguelike with simple controls and shorter 1–2 hour runs

How It Plays

Every floor presents another tactical puzzle where positioning often matters just as much as your equipment. Sunlight moves through the hotel over time, constantly changing which areas are safe to occupy and which have become deadly. As a human you’ll rely on your weapons and spellbook to overcome enemies, but becoming a vampire completely changes how you approach combat, rewarding aggressive play while forcing you to avoid hazards that barely mattered before.

The streamlined design keeps the focus on those unique mechanics rather than overwhelming you with complicated systems. There are no sprawling inventories or intricate skill trees to manage. Instead, Golden Krone Hotel builds its challenge around dynamic lighting, meaningful potion choices, and adapting to life on both sides of the vampire hunt. Even after dozens of runs, every descent into the hotel feels slightly different as new disguises, randomized levels, and shifting light patterns create fresh tactical situations.

Good If You Like…
