A deadly fog has swallowed the world, and humanity’s best chance of escaping it is a heavily armed train charging toward safety. Fogpiercer puts you in command of that expedition, beginning with the locomotive, carriages, and driver you choose before each run. Those decisions shape your starting deck, determining which attacks, support tools, and tactical options you’ll have available when the bandits close in. From there, every battle becomes a carefully planned attempt to keep the train moving while enemy vehicles surround it from every direction.
Your train continues to change as the journey unfolds. New carriages add cards to your deck, upgrades strengthen the equipment you already rely on, and branching routes let you decide which battles, repairs, rewards, and risks are worth pursuing. Between runs, additional locomotives, drivers, and carriages become available, opening up new starting combinations and giving you more ways to approach the dangers waiting beyond the fog.

Building the Train Builds the Deck
Fogpiercer ties your cards directly to the machinery attached to your train. Choosing a carriage isn’t simply a matter of adding more health or firepower, because each one also introduces new cards and tactical possibilities. A minigun can provide the spread needed to clear nearby threats, artillery can shove vehicles into more dangerous positions, and defensive carriages can help you absorb an attack before ramming straight through the enemy line.
That connection between deckbuilding and train construction gives every upgrade a visible place in your expedition. Buying, selling, repairing, and improving carriages gradually reshapes both the train itself and the cards you’ll draw once combat begins.
Winning Through Collateral Damage
Enemies regularly outnumber and surround you, so simply trading attacks is rarely the best answer. Fogpiercer rewards you for treating the battlefield as part of your deck, using movement, positioning, and carefully ordered actions to turn one attack into several problems for the opposing convoy.
An artillery shot can force a vehicle onto the tracks before your train runs it down, while destroying the front of a convoy can send wreckage tumbling backward through everything behind it. Hackers can deploy decoys or take control of enemy vehicles, and cranes can push them into cliffs, hazards, or one another. Finding the correct sequence of actions is often more valuable than playing the card with the highest damage number.
Choosing a Way Through the Fog
Each region presents its own modifiers and rewards, followed by branching paths that allow you to shape the journey ahead. Some routes lead directly into another battle, while others take you to friendly locations where the train can be repaired, upgraded, or rearranged.
Battlefields also introduce their own complications. You may receive help from an ally, find yourself trapped in a narrow area with little room to manoeuvre, or fight beside a cliff that’s equally dangerous to both sides. Regional bosses wait at the end of each area, bringing their own abilities and backstories to the final encounter before the expedition moves deeper into the fog.
More Machinery for the Next Run
Defeat sends you back with more than another attempt at the same setup. Metaprogression unlocks additional locomotives, drivers, and carriages, allowing future expeditions to begin with entirely different decks and tactical strengths.
You can also focus on upgrading the options you already enjoy, unlocking more cards and expanding what they can do in combat. The result is a growing collection of train parts that changes how each new journey begins rather than simply making the same build stronger.
How Long Does a Run Take?
Individual runs in Fogpiercer typically last well over an hour, with successful expeditions often becoming lengthy tactical sessions as you progress through multiple regions and increasingly difficult encounters. Completing the main story takes an average of around 9.5 hours, although unlocking additional locomotives, drivers, and upgrades encourages plenty of repeat runs beyond that point.
Controller Support
Fogpiercer offers full controller support for both Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
