Somewhere out in the wasteland lie the parts needed to fix a broken spaceship, and reaching them means crossing hostile territory crawling with raiders, privateers, and three factions all fighting for control of what’s left. Every radio signal picked up along the way could mean loot, combat, or a fast route to disaster.

Convoy is a tactical roguelike inspired by Mad Max and FTL, from developer Convoy Games. Commanding a squad of fully customizable combat vehicles across a randomized wasteland, you’ll fight high-speed, real-time battles, chase down radio signals for text-based events and chance encounters, and keep a fragile convoy alive long enough to repair a ship and get off the planet.

What Makes It Different?

  • Cross a randomized wasteland in search of parts for a broken spaceship
  • Fight real-time, high-speed vehicular combat as tactical car chases
  • Customize every unit with different weapons and abilities
  • Follow radio signals into combat, dialogue, or chance-based role-play
  • Navigate a cold war between three factions, all reacting to your actions
  • Face permadeath, where one wrong move can end an entire convoy
  • Encounter a different set of objectives, events, and consequences every playthrough

Combat at Full Speed

Rather than turn-based skirmishes, Convoy plays out combat as a real-time, high-speed car chase, demanding sharp positioning and smart use of abilities to keep vehicles alive. Every unit can be outfitted with different weapons and upgrades, letting a convoy be built around a preferred style, whether that’s leaning into raw firepower or prioritizing speed and evasion. With permadeath sitting behind every decision, a single mistake in the middle of a chase can end a run outright.

A Wasteland That Reacts to You

Three factions vie for control of the planet, and every choice made along the way tips that balance a little further in one direction or another. Radio signals scattered across the wasteland lead to a mix of tactical combat, text-based events, and chance-driven encounters, and since the planet itself is randomized each playthrough, no two journeys toward repairing that broken ship look quite the same.

How Long Does a Run Take?

The average run time depends heavily on playstyle, but a single playthrough typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. Total game time to finish the campaign runs about 5.5 to 7 hours for the main story, around 5.5 to 6 hours for main story plus sides, and about 13 hours for full completion.

Controller Support

Convoy features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers. Support for other devices is not known.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed FTL: Faster Than Light, Dead Weight, or Deadlock Station, Convoy’s mix of tactical combat and roguelike resource management should be well worth a look. It’s often described as FTL, Car Wars, and Mad Max colliding into one roguelike, which gives a pretty good sense of what to expect.
