Somewhere inside an ever-shifting, neon-soaked mansion, the robot showman Frazzer is waiting, and the only way to catch him is to move like the music demands. Every step, slide, and shot needs to land in time with the beat, or the whole run falls apart.

ROBOBEAT is a rogue-like rhythm shooter from developer Simon Fredholm. Playing as Ace, a bounty hunter chasing Frazzer through his twisted techno-playground, you’ll wall-run, slide, and shoot your way through procedurally generated levels synced to a soundtrack you can fully customize, unlocking new weapons, songs, and modifications with every attempt.

What Makes It Different?

  • Shoot, wall-run, and slide through combat perfectly synced to the beat
  • Upload and trim your own music tracks to generate custom in-game beats
  • Maximize damage and shorten cooldowns by firing in time with the music
  • Master charged shots, damage multipliers, and armor-piercing rounds
  • Chain together wall runs, double jumps, bunny hops, and grapple hooks
  • Explore procedurally generated levels that change with every run
  • Unlock new songs, weapons, and utilities as you uncover the mansion’s secrets

Combat on Your Own Playlist

Few shooters let players build their own soundtrack into the mechanics quite like ROBOBEAT. Uploading and trimming a personal track, or letting the in-game editor auto-generate beats, directly shapes how combat feels, since firing in sync with the music boosts damage and shortens cooldowns. Environments and visuals shift and pulse along with whatever’s playing too, turning every firefight into something closer to a personal music video than a standard shootout.

Movement Is Half the Fight

Standing still isn’t an option against Frazzer’s forces. Wall running, sliding, double jumping, bunny hopping, and grapple hooking through the mansion’s technicolor rooms keeps enemies guessing and gives Ace the mobility needed to weave between attacks. Combined with an arsenal of finely tuned weapons and modifications, mastering that movement is just as important as mastering the beat itself.

How Long Does a Run Take?

A single successful playthrough or run lasts roughly 30 to 45 minutes. The average time to reach the end credits is about 9 hours, while seeing all side content and additional objectives takes around 9.5 hours. Top speedrunners can finish the game in under 40 minutes.

Controller Support

ROBOBEAT features Partial Controller Support for Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers, and requires agreement to a third-party EULA.

Good If You Like…

ODDCORE and BPM: Bullets Per Minute both bring that same rhythm-driven roguelike shooter energy to the table. Both are well worth checking out if ROBOBEAT’s beat-synced chaos is what’s drawing you in.
