Just King
Positioning is everything in Just King: your four heroes fight automatically, but where you place them before each engagement determines who absorbs hits, who delivers them, and whether your party’s synergies actually fire. Developed by VISH and released on December 19, 2023, it is an auto-battler with roguelike structure built around assembling, equipping, and spatially arranging a small party to push through increasingly hostile realms.
Runs are organized into Zones, each with its own enemy roster and mechanical quirks, capped by a boss fight against that realm’s regent. Between fights, loot from defeated enemies funds hero upgrades and legendary items, letting the party scale into the later waves. The roster holds 33 heroes, each with a distinct playstyle, and a team slots only four at a time, so draft decisions carry real weight. Heroes level up through a run and unlock stronger abilities, which means matching synergies from the start pays off as those abilities compound. Non-combat scenarios appear during runs as well: short narrative vignettes where each hero responds in character, adding a thin role-playing layer without interrupting the battle rhythm.
- 33 selectable heroes with individual playstyles and ability unlock tracks
- Positioning system: player-controlled party placement, automated combat execution
- Zone-based structure, each Zone replayable independently with unique enemies
- Endless Mode chains all Zones together with scaling difficulty
- Difficulty modifiers ranging from accessibility aids to punishing rule changes
- Non-combat story vignettes with hero-specific outcomes
Since launch the game has seen steady incremental patching through the 1.3.x series, with recurring Duel Season competitions producing regular champion announcements throughout 2025. A major UI overhaul arrived in early 2026 alongside patch 1.4.0, suggesting a meaningful interface rework rather than a routine update. A 2.0.0 beta branch appeared in July 2025, hinting at a substantial revision still in testing. The game also launched on mobile in August 2025, expanding beyond its original PC release.
Just King suits players who enjoy draft and synergy puzzles but prefer watching a battle resolve over direct action inputs — the satisfaction here comes from construction and positioning rather than moment-to-moment mechanical execution.
