Studio Rebound Announces Furyball: Rogue Revenge, Claims to Invent the Rogue Beat’em Ball Genre

Studio Rebound has announced Furyball: Rogue Revenge, a top-down action roguelite where your only weapon is a bouncing bullet ball – and the studio is calling it the first Rogue Beat’em Ball. That’s a genre claim worth raising an eyebrow at, but the pitch is coherent enough: you’re a slum outsider armed with a Furyball, and you’ve got one night to cross Neo-Arcadia and reach the Furydome for a final battle against the city’s sport-obsessed gang overlords.

The core loop is positioning and timing your Furyball launches to chain rebounds, stack combos, and survive pinball-inspired arenas spread across multiple city districts. Each district has its own gang with distinct tricks and a boss waiting at the end, so you’ll need to adapt your build as you push deeper into the city. That build flexibility comes from a modular upgrade system — modules can be fused and combined to create synergies around burning, bleeding, crushing, and other effects, giving each run its own strategic shape.

Rebound knows balls as the studio made its name with the Tennis Manager franchise and co-developed TopSpin 2K25 with 2K Sports – so the mechanical DNA here at least makes sense even if the aesthetic is a hard left turn. The game leans into 70s retrofuturist grindhouse stylings inspired by Akira, Hokuto no Ken, and exploitation cinema, with an original disco-punk soundtrack by The Toxic Avenger backing the whole thing.

No release date has been announced. Furyball: Rogue Revenge is available to wishlist on Steam now.
