Slay the Spire 2 Makes A Major Leap Forward With New Update

If you’ve been following Slay the Spire 2’s recent updates, this patch feels like a significant step up in scale. The last beta update which we covered recently, focused largely on bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and preparing the build for a future main branch merge. This time, MegaCrit is delivering new content, major systems changes, and long-requested features that will have a much bigger impact on how the game is played.

The developer just dropped what it’s calling the next big patch to Slay the Spire 2, and it arrives loaded with features the community has been asking for since the deckbuilder entered Early Access. The update introduces Steam Workshop support, a complete RNG rework, a new compendium called the Bestiary, and a fresh Act 3 boss encounter named Aeonglass.

Steam Workshop integration means modders now have official tools to create and distribute content directly through Valve’s platform, lowering friction for players who want to customize their runs. The RNG rework addresses how the game generates encounters and rewards, a change that touches nearly every run and could reshape strategy across all five playable characters. The Bestiary functions as a lore repository, letting you unlock fragments of the Spire’s history as you play and encounter new enemies.

Doormaker’s Removal is also landing in this patch, though MegaCrit has not disclosed what that entity did or why it needed culling. The new Aeonglass boss joins the Act 3 rotation, giving players another endgame gauntlet to overcome.

Slay the Spire 2 is available on Steam in Early Access, and MegaCrit has signaled that more content, cards, environments, and enemies will arrive throughout development. The studio has been transparent about leaning on community feedback to shape the sequel, a philosophy that paid dividends with the original. This patch proves that momentum carries forward.
