The Seven Deadly Sins have stolen a collection of sacred artifacts and disappeared into Hell. That’s the premise of today’s rogue discovery. Holy Shoot sends a group of blessed misfits downstairs to retrieve the artifacts, armed with divine powers, shotguns, grenade launchers, nail-spitting rifles.
Developed and published by Tale Era Interactive, this fast-paced FPS roguelite spent almost a year in Early Access before reaching version 1.0 on July 20, 2026. It now has roughly 350 Steam reviews and a Mostly Positive rating, but is still relatively unknown by the majority of gamers. Which is a sin in itself considering how fun and addictive it is.
Get Ready to Blast Your Way Through Hell
The Sanctum has one job…Defeat the demons representing the Seven Deadly Sins and recover the artifacts they’ve taken. That means runs send you through different regions of a deliberately ridiculous version of Hell, blasting through cursed enemies before eventually meeting whichever oversized demon currently runs the place.
Each area is built around its respective sin. Greed brings gold-filled ruins, Wrath prefers lava and is way more angry, while the Sloth realm added with version 1.0 goes in the opposite direction with fog, greenery, and an unsettling amount of comfort. Waiting at the end of that particular nap is Belphegor, because obviously Hell wasn’t going to let you relax for long.
Level layouts change between runs, while traps, enemies, and other unpleasant surprises keep the route from becoming completely predictable. Mostly, though, you’re here to shoot demons.
There’s Nothing Subtle About Your Holy Arsenal

You begin as Supersonic Samuel, a Sanctum warrior built around speed and divine reflexes, with more heroes becoming available as you progress. Characters aren’t simply different faces attached to the same gun. Each brings their own strengths and abilities, with unlockable heroes such as Toshiko Techno pushing runs toward different playstyles depending on who you take into Hell.
Perks picked up during runs let you reshape your build as you go, while weapons range from chunky shotguns to grenade launchers and rifles capable of firing nails. Between attempts, currencies can be spent on permanent upgrades back at the Sanctum’s HUB, gradually improving your chances of getting further next time.
The HUB isn’t just a menu wearing a fancy background either. There are NPCs to talk to, upgrades to unlock, angelic blueprints being worked on, and strong opinions about tea being better than coffee. Even holy warriors need workplace drama.
1.0 Expanded Hell

Holy Shoot originally entered Steam Early Access on July 30, 2025, with Tale Era Interactive using player feedback to tweak weapons, skills, progression, and general balance.
The full release arrived almost a year later with the Sloth realm, Belphegor boss fight, Steam achievements, progression improvements, and Endless Mayhem, a mode built around seeing how far you can push an increasingly ridiculous build before Hell finally catches up.
There are now 23 Steam achievements to chase alongside the regular runs, permanent progression, character unlocks, and weapon experimentation. Reception hasn’t been flawless. The game currently sits at a Mostly Positive rating rather than the near-universal praise some of our Rogue Discovery finds manage, but it remains a relatively small release considering how crowded FPS roguelites have become.
If you’ve already fired your way through the bigger names and fancy something a little different, Holy Shoot is well worth a look.
