Warm Snow

Each run in Warm Snow puts you in control of Bi-an, a warrior cutting through servants of the Five Great Clans in fast, melee-driven combat across a dark fantasy China gripped by a supernatural plague. The warm snow of the title falls without melting and drives anyone who breathes it to madness, and the game uses that premise to justify escalating waves of transformed enemies and corrupted clan elites standing between Bi-an and the truth at the center of the catastrophe.

Combat is built around a flying sword system in which Bi-an summons and directs swords with distinct elemental attributes and attack modes, supplemented by Relics that modify how those swords behave. Six sects shape each run’s starting conditions and available power, and Excaliburs—rare weapon pickups—shift a build’s direction unpredictably. Runs are held together by Relic combinations that can dramatically change playstyle from one attempt to the next, so the game rewards players who enjoy reading synergies and building around them rather than executing a fixed rotation.

Permanent growth comes through talent points assigned freely between runs and through Memory Fragments, pieces of lore that drop randomly during runs and gradually reveal the story of the clans and the warm snow phenomenon. Players who prefer a continuous, authored narrative rather than scattered collectible storytelling tend to disengage here.

Warm Snow was developed by BadMudStudio and released on January 18, 2022. The game received steady patch support through 2023 and expanded substantially with a second DLC that launched in December 2023, bringing new boss difficulty options, a Talisman system, and additional skins. Early post-launch updates focused on difficulty balancing and quality-of-life fixes; by late 2023 the studio was running preview livestreams and staging the DLC2 launch as a significant content event. The official soundtrack was released separately in September 2024, and the game reached its third anniversary in January 2025.
