The Vault of Yendor is stuffed with treasure, and reaching it means bouncing straight through everything guarding it. Heroes here don’t walk from room to room, they launch, ricochet, and pinball their way across the dungeon, one satisfying bounce at a time.
Roundguard is a pinball-inspired action RPG roguelike from developer Wonderbelly Games, published by Graybox Labs. Launching your hero across bouncy, physics-driven arenas, collecting loot and stat-boosting bonuses, and picking off enemies through momentum-based combat, you’ll fight through procedurally generated stages and boss encounters on the way to whatever the Vault of Yendor is hiding.
What Makes It Different?
- Launch your hero through combat like a pinball, bouncing off walls and enemies
- Explore procedurally generated stages that shift with every attempt
- Choose from multiple heroes, each with distinct abilities and playstyles
- Collect loot, gold, and stat-boosting bonuses scattered throughout each run
- Face escalating enemies and hazards across 3 distinct acts
- Battle unique boss encounters guarding the way toward the Vault
- Push for a better run every time, since permadeath resets progress on failure
Combat Built on Momentum
Roundguard’s core hook is treating a hero less like a traditional adventurer and more like a pinball. Launching into enemies deals damage through pure momentum, and reading angles, ricochets, and hazards becomes the real skill being tested rather than traditional combat timing. That physics-first approach gives even simple rooms a satisfying, tactile feel, and chaining bounces together into a clean clear of a stage is deeply rewarding.
Loot That Shapes Every Bounce
Stat-boosting bonuses and loot collected along the way don’t just pad out numbers, they actively change how a hero handles in the arena. Building toward a faster, more aggressive bouncer or a tankier, more deliberate playstyle shapes how each of the game’s procedurally generated stages gets approached, and with multiple heroes to choose from, starting builds can look completely different from one run to the next.
How Long Does a Run Take?
A successful, full run takes about 45 to 90 minutes to complete. Most single bouncy pinball stages take only a few minutes or less to clear, and a complete standard session covering all 3 acts, up to 45 total procedurally generated stages and 3 boss fights, typically averages around 1 hour if you survive to the end. Runs where your hero falls early or dies from hazards can end in under 10 to 20 minutes. Reaching a first successful completion usually takes roughly 4.5 hours of cumulative playtime across multiple attempts, while unlocking all achievements and extras for full completion takes 12 to 15 hours.
Controller Support
Roundguard features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers. Support for other devices is not known.
