Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel
The Gods have set a test, and only a damned hero desperate enough to take it stands a chance of passing. Waves of mythical adversaries stand between you and the title of Jotunnslayer, and surviving them means fighting harder, moving faster, and growing stronger with every enemy that falls.
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a roguelike horde survivor game from developers Games Farm and ARTillery, set in the dark realms of Norse mythology. Choosing from a roster of diverse heroes, fighting off endless waves of enemies, and completing objectives across mythic realms, you’ll face down towering bosses and earn divine blessings on your way to becoming a god-like warrior.
What Makes It Different?
- Battle endless waves of mythical adversaries across the dark realms of Norse mythology
- Choose from a roster of diverse heroes, each with unique skills, abilities, and weapons
- Complete objectives and missions that test your skills across every run
- Face increasingly challenging bosses that demand smart use of the environment
- Earn divine blessings from ancient Viking Deities as you progress
- Unlock perks, skills, and upgrades through persistent meta-progression
- Play solo or with a friend in shared or split screen co-op
Prove Yourself to the Gods
Every run in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is framed as a trial, and completing it means more than simply outlasting the horde. Missions and objectives set throughout a run test different skills along the way, from surviving specific waves to overcoming additional obstacles thrown into the mix, and finishing them all triggers a final showdown with a boss guarding the path to becoming a true Jotunnslayer.
Build a Warrior Worthy of Valhalla
With a roster of diverse heroes to choose from, each carrying their own unique skills, abilities, and weapons, no two attempts at the Gods’ test look the same. Meta-progression systems add another element of growth on top of that, unlocking new abilities, weapons, and bonuses that carry forward between runs and let a build evolve further with each attempt.
How Long Does a Run Take?
The average standard run lasts roughly 15 minutes. In a typical playthrough, you have a set timeframe to complete objectives throughout the arena, and once those tasks are complete, a boss fight triggers, bringing the standard run to a close.
Surviving into the game’s endless mode can stretch individual runs to 45 minutes or longer depending on your build, while being overwhelmed before finishing the objectives can end a run in 5 minutes or less. Finishing all main objectives takes an average of 6 hours, while 100% completion can take around 27 hours.
Controller Support
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers.
Good If You Like…
Vampire Survivors and Halls of Torment sit in very similar territory here, and Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel holds its own alongside them. 20 Minutes Till Dawn is also worth a look for more of that same horde survival tension.
