Bulletfest Spotlight: Extreme Sports Meets Vampire Survivors in this Chaotic Roguelite

HoboCatGames took to their socials to remind players that Motördoom, a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater-flavored take on the Vampire Survivors formula, is part of Steam’s Bullet Fest.

Skateboarding-style mechanics fused with a roguelite bullet hell architecture is what Motordoom is all about, and the game has been out for almost 2 years, with the latest tweet nearly hitting that 2 year anniversary mark.

Like extreme sports games of it’s ilk, you’re grinding through a variety of levels, but in this case you’ll be dealing with increasingly hostile arenas. While not exactly a full-on bullet hell, you can still expect the screen to flood with projectiles, enemies, and whatever other chaos the roguelite gods decide to throw your way. The motorbike component adds movement options and momentum-based mechanics that differentiate Motördoom from the dozen other Vampire Survivors-alikes crowding the indie rogue space.

Steam’s Bullet Fest gives experimental titles like this a spotlight, and frankly, Motördoom needed one, despite having an overwhelmingly positive reception on the platform. Despite its Indie nature and the fact the game is nearing its second year post release, it’s a game that fuses two mechanically distinct systems, showing off the variety of the genre, so we couldn’t sit idly by and see this title fly under the radar once again.

If you’ve got the time, and you love extreme sports, Motördoom is worth a shot.
