Heroes usually get all the attention in dungeon-crawling games. Legend of Keepers: Career of a Dungeon Manager hands you the other side of the story, putting you in charge of protecting the dungeon instead. Every expedition becomes a chance to outsmart incoming adventurers, carefully arranging monsters, traps, and powerful bosses before watching your defenses put them to the test.

Legend of Keepers is a roguelite strategy game that combines dungeon management, turn-based battles, and long-term progression. As a newly hired Dungeon Manager for the Dungeons Company, you’ll recruit monsters, organize your defenses, manage resources throughout the working week, and repel increasingly dangerous groups of heroes. Between campaigns, permanent progression unlocks new Dungeon Masters and upgrades, encouraging new strategies across repeated runs.

What Makes It Different?

  • Play as the villain defending your dungeon instead of raiding one
  • Recruit monsters and organize deadly dungeon defenses
  • Wear down heroes with traps before turn-based boss encounters
  • Manage weekly events, hiring, training, and resource allocation
  • Choose from multiple Dungeon Masters with unique abilities
  • Unlock permanent upgrades and new content between campaigns
  • Build different monster teams across every roguelite run

Running a Dungeon Is a Full-Time Job

Keeping your dungeon alive involves far more than placing monsters in empty rooms. Every week presents new decisions, from recruiting fresh creatures and training existing ones to dealing with random events that can affect your resources, workforce, or future plans.

Those management decisions carry directly into every invasion. A well-prepared dungeon can leave heroes battered long before they reach your strongest monsters, while poor planning often means watching your defenses collapse much sooner than expected.

Every Monster Has a Role

Combat unfolds room by room as heroes push deeper into your dungeon. Traps weaken the invading party before your monsters step in, with each encounter becoming a turn-based battle where positioning and team composition matter just as much as raw strength.

Building an effective roster is one of the game’s biggest strengths. Different monsters complement one another in unique ways, making experimentation just as rewarding as unlocking stronger Dungeon Masters through permanent progression.

Success Comes From Better Planning

No campaign plays out exactly the same way. Random events, different hero parties, and changing recruitment options constantly encourage you to adapt, making every run feel like a fresh management challenge rather than a fixed puzzle.

Even failed campaigns move you forward. New Dungeon Masters, upgrades, and accumulated experience gradually expand your options, making future attempts more flexible while still leaving plenty of room to experiment.

How Long Does a Run Take?

A standard campaign in Legend of Keepers: Career of a Dungeon Manager typically lasts 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on how much time you spend planning your dungeon, managing your monsters, and choosing weekly actions. Longer game-length settings can extend a campaign significantly.

Controller Support

Legend of Keepers: Career of a Dungeon Manager offers full controller support for Xbox controllers.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed Drill Keeper, The Last Spell, Dungeon of the ENDLESS, and Dotage, Legend of Keepers offers a similarly satisfying mix of strategic planning, defending against relentless waves, long-term progression, and finding smarter ways to overcome each new challenge.
