The drill is the heart of every expedition, and losing it means losing everything. Drill Keeper turns each run into a balancing act between expanding your mining operation and building defenses strong enough to survive the next alien assault. Every tunnel you dig and every card you play shapes the battlefield, making careful planning just as important as a powerful deck.

Drill Keeper is a roguelike deckbuilder that combines mining, siege defense, and base building into a single run. You’ll travel from planet to planet, dig through fully destructible terrain in search of valuable resources, and use an expanding deck of cards to construct fortifications, upgrade your operation, and hold back relentless enemy swarms. Between expeditions you’ll unlock new cards, heroes, and long-term upgrades that steadily open up new strategies.

What Makes It Different?

  • Combine roguelike deckbuilding with real-time siege defense
  • Dig through fully destructible planets to gather resources
  • Build defensive fortresses around your Planetary Drill
  • Shape enemy paths by carving tunnels and placing obstacles
  • Unlock new cards, heroes, factions, and planets between runs
  • Discover artifacts and runes that create powerful synergies
  • Adapt your strategy to procedurally generated planets and objectives

The Battlefield Is Yours to Shape

Most tower defense games give you a fixed map. Drill Keeper hands you a pickaxe instead. Every wall can be broken, every tunnel becomes a potential route, and every excavation changes how enemies reach your drill. That means gathering resources and designing defenses become part of the same decision rather than two separate systems.

The result is a constant stream of meaningful choices. Dig deeper for valuable treasures, or spend that time reinforcing your defenses before the next attack arrives. Every expedition asks you to find a balance between greed and survival.

Every Card Builds Something Bigger

Your deck does far more than deal damage. Cards allow you to construct defensive buildings, strengthen your economy, apply powerful effects, and improve your expedition as the run unfolds. As new cards, artifacts, and runes appear, small decisions gradually grow into elaborate strategies capable of handling even the toughest alien invasions.

Different heroes and factions push those strategies in entirely new directions, giving each run its own identity and encouraging experimentation long after you’ve mastered the basics.

Dig, Defend, Repeat

Even when an expedition comes to an end, the progress doesn’t disappear with it. Completing objectives unlocks new cards for future starting decks, while long-term upgrades and additional heroes steadily expand the number of possible builds.

That constant sense of progression makes every return worthwhile. There’s always another strategy to test, another planet to conquer, or another fortress waiting to be built.

How Long Does a Run Take?

A typical run in Drill Keeper lasts around 30 to 60 minutes. Focusing on completing each planet’s objectives can keep runs relatively short, while spending extra time digging for resources and constructing more elaborate defenses will naturally extend the expedition.

Controller Support

There is currently no official controller support information available for Drill Keeper.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed The Last Spell, Factomancer, Against the Storm, and Dotage, Drill Keeper offers a similarly satisfying mix of strategic planning, long-term progression, defending against overwhelming odds, and steadily optimizing every run.
