The Heart of the Universe has been stolen, and every planet standing between you and the thief has become another battlefield. Gatekeeper is built around fast, aggressive combat where standing still is rarely an option. You’ll dash across alien worlds, carve through enormous waves of enemies, and gather a constant stream of upgrades that gradually transform your character into an unstoppable force.

Each expedition begins with one of several Gatekeepers, every one bringing their own weapons, abilities, and combat style to the fight. The planets themselves are procedurally generated, so no two runs follow the same path, while hundreds of artifacts and DNA mutations ensure your build keeps evolving as you push toward the enemy guarding the Heart. Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, the focus is always on creating wildly powerful combinations capable of surviving the chaos ahead.

How It Plays

Runs revolve around clearing your way through increasingly dangerous planets while collecting upgrades that strengthen your build. Artifacts provide immediate boosts during a run, while DNA mutations let you shape your character in different directions, encouraging experimentation every time you start over. The procedurally generated levels and varied enemy encounters help keep each journey feeling unpredictable.

Outside of individual runs, you’ll unlock additional Gatekeepers, new abilities, and permanent upgrades that expand your options for future expeditions. Every character approaches combat differently, making it worth experimenting with new playstyles as your collection grows. If you’d rather tackle the challenge with company, online co-op for up to four players lets everyone build their own overpowered loadout while fighting through the universe together.
