Every week we’ll be taking a look at SteamDB’s live charts to see which rogue games are pulling in the biggest crowds. Reviews are useful, wishlists tell us what’s generating excitement, but player numbers show us what thousands of people actually decided to spend their time playing over the last 24 hours.
The rankings below are based on each game’s 24-hour peak concurrent players. In other words, the highest number of people playing at the same time during the past day. It’s not an all-time record, and it certainly doesn’t mean one game is “better” than another, but it does give us a brilliant snapshot of what’s hot on Steam right now.
Whether it’s a brand-new release enjoying launch week, a surprise update breathing new life into an old favorite, or a modern classic refusing to leave the charts, we’ll be here every week to see how things change.

The Classics Still Refuse to Budge

If this week’s chart proves anything, it’s that rogue games have an incredible shelf life.
More than a decade after its release, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is still sitting comfortably at the top of the charts. Considering how many fantastic rogue games have launched since then, that’s an achievement in itself. Part of its resurgence in popularity is down to its recent heavily discounted price in the Steam Sale. After being offered for more than 90% off its retail price, the game ended up breaking its all time concurrent player record.
Right behind it you’ll find familiar names like Don’t Starve Together and the original Slay the Spire, two games that seem perfectly happy reminding everyone why players keep coming back year after year.
That’s one of my favourite things about this genre. Very few people truly finish a great rogue game. You might put it down for a few weeks, or even a few months, but sooner or later there’s another run calling your name. Maybe it’s a new build you’ve been meaning to try, or you’re chasing one more unlock. Or maybe you just fancy seeing what kind of ridiculous run the RNG throws together this time.
Some games get completed, but the best rogue games simply become part of your rotation.
New Releases Aren’t Hanging Around

Of course, the old favourites aren’t getting all the attention. Slay the Spire 2 has arrived exactly as many people expected, launching straight towards the top of the charts with an enormous player count. Considering the original helped redefine deckbuilding as we know it, it’s hardly surprising to see players piling in.
Elsewhere, games like ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, DAVE THE DIVER, and The Scroll of Taiwu: Beyond the Dome show just how far rogue mechanics have spread. They’re no longer confined to dungeon crawlers. Today you’ll find them in action RPGs, survival games, strategy games, fishing adventures, and just about every other genre you can think of.
That’s one of the biggest reasons rogue games have grown so quickly over the last few years. Developers keep finding new ways to experiment with the formula, and players clearly can’t get enough of it.
Which Games Will Dominate Next Week?
One week’s worth of player numbers is fun, several weeks start telling a story. That’s when we’ll begin seeing which games are building genuine momentum, which updates have brought players flooding back, and whether any surprise releases manage to climb into the top ten.
Steam sales, major patches, and new launches can completely reshape these rankings overnight, so don’t expect the chart to stay the same for long.
Will The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth finally surrender top spot? Can Slay the Spire 2 close the gap? Or will another rogue game come out of nowhere and surprise us all?
We’ll be back next week to find out.
