Dice Legends was built by Big Bite Games and Ad Luna, a collaboration that brought in Rafał Jaki — the creative force behind GWENT and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and writer of Witcher: Ronin and No Name manga — to conceive the world and narrative. The original score was composed by LouisF, known for the Balatro soundtrack. The game released on October 10, 2025.

Set in a high-fantasy world reshaped by a magical cataclysm that transformed all humans into beasts, the game puts players in control of one of three heroes traveling across a map and selecting locations to clear. Doing so uncovers the story of the Last Human, a mage blamed for the catastrophe. Each cleared location yields weapons, armor, and accessories that interact with the deck to define a run’s build. Four visually distinct areas divide the world, each with its own enemy roster drawn from a pool of over 50 monsters, each carrying multiple skills.

The mechanical hook that separates Dice Legends from straight deckbuilders is the dice activation layer. Each turn, a player rolls a pool of dice and draws from their deck; cards can only be played by spending dice of the required face values, which means the dice result shapes which cards are usable rather than hand size alone. Managing variance — through items, card combinations, and power-ups — is as central to the run as the cards themselves. The three heroes each lock to a specific die type: Arie the Lion Paladin uses d6 dice oriented around damage and shielding, Kuro the Crow Demon Summoner uses d12 dice to place familiars on the battlefield, and Xin the Toad Assassin uses d8 dice to stack damage-over-time or land critical hits. Each die type has a different probability distribution, making the heroes genuinely distinct rather than cosmetically separated. The card pool sits at 160 hand-drawn cards, and the inventory system offers over 75 equippable or combat-usable items.

Post-launch development moved quickly. The first weeks after release brought a succession of balance patches and hotfixes — including a major difficulty overhaul in Patch 1.08 — alongside smaller quality-of-life additions like hero skins in 1.05 and resolution and game-speed options in 1.07. Cloud saves and multiple save slots arrived in November 2025. December’s Patch 1.1 was the first named major content update, introducing a Portal System alongside new items. January 2026 brought further patches and participation in a Tiny Roguelikes Event, with additional maintenance updates continuing into June 2026 with the 1.3 series.

A run ends when the player defeats the final boss, at which point the difficulty and item synergies discovered along the way determine whether the gear-card combination held together under pressure.
