Guild Legends
A terrible curse has fallen over the land, and someone has to deal with it. Naturally, that job falls to whichever ragtag guild is brave, or foolish, enough to step up, recruit a cast of oddballs, and start slaying slimes.
Guild Legends is an action roguelite from solo developer Larger Than Average Games, built for up to four players. Recruiting a diverse cast of procedurally generated heroes, wielding an arsenal of 30 unique weapons, and battling through short, punchy bursts of combat, you’ll build a legend one chaotic run at a time.
What Makes It Different?
- Play with up to four players in local co-op
- Recruit procedurally generated heroes, each with their own unique traits
- Wield 30 unique weapons across the current build, with more planned
- Fight through original retro-style graphics, sounds, and music
- Uncover quests and secrets tucked throughout the world
- Enjoy an exhausting amount of meta humor and genuine sarcasm
- Meet a talking skeleton, because of course there’s a talking skeleton
A Guild Built for Mayhem
Guild Legends leans hard into its scrappy, self-aware charm. Every hero recruited into the guild comes with their own procedurally generated traits, meaning even a familiar weapon can play out differently depending on who’s wielding it. With four-player local co-op supported from the start, the chaos of slaying hordes of slimes and other monsters is clearly built to be shared with friends on the couch.
A Passion Project Still Taking Shape
This is very much a work in progress from a single developer, and it’s worth knowing that going in. The Early Access build is currently playable through the end of stage 3, with over half of the planned weapons already available, and a full version eventually planned to include 12 stages, a New Game Plus-style “night mode,” and dozens more weapons, traits, and side content. The developer is actively looking for community feedback to help shape where it goes from here.
How Long Does a Run Take?
According to the developer, Guild Legends is built around rogue-like gameplay in 5 to 20 minute bursts, keeping individual runs short and replayable. As a very recent Early Access release from a solo developer, there isn’t yet enough aggregated community data on sites like HowLongToBeat to provide a verified average run time or full completion estimate, and total playtime will likely shift considerably as more stages and content are added.
Controller Support
Guild Legends features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers. The developers recommend playing this game with a controller.
Good If You Like…
If you enjoyed Brotato, Boneraiser Minions, or Risk of Rain 2, Guild Legends’ mix of bullet heaven combat and local co-op chaos should be well worth a look. It’s an early, actively developing solo project though, so it’s worth going in with reasonable expectations for how much content is currently there.
