Ziggurat
Becoming a powerful wizard isn’t handed out for free. Every neophyte sorcerer must face the labyrinth’s rite of passage, a dungeon crawl packed with dangerous enemies, deadly traps, and the kind of magical arsenal that separates a real sorcerer from someone who never made it out.
Ziggurat is a dungeon-crawling FPS roguelite from developer Milkstone Studios. Blasting through randomly generated dungeons with a growing arsenal of magic staves, spellbooks, and wands, you’ll level up, collect perks, and take down almighty bosses on your rite of passage toward becoming a genuinely powerful wizard.
What Makes It Different?
- Fight your way through randomly generated dungeons as a neophyte sorcerer
- Wield a full arsenal of magic and alchemic weapons, from staves to spellbooks
- Choose simple, direct perks that change how you play, not just raw numbers
- Face almighty bosses guarding the path deeper into the labyrinth
- Navigate rooms filled with traps and treasures on every run
- Level up as you progress, adding lasting strength to each attempt
- Master fast-paced, old-school FPS combat with modern handling
Skill First, Grinding Never
Ziggurat leans hard into the idea that combat skill, not stat inflation, is what carries a run forward. Leveling up and randomly generated content exist to keep things varied, not to turn the game into a grind or a roll of the dice. Most perks change how a player has to approach a fight or which weapon becomes worth carrying, offering simple trade-offs like more speed for less health, or faster mana regeneration over raw drop rates, rather than a wall of confusing numbers to sort through.
An Arsenal Built on Magic
There’s no cluttered inventory to manage here, just weapon selection and careful management of mana and health as the real bargaining chips. Magic staves, spellbooks, and wands each bring their own attack strategy into the fight, and cycling through different combinations keeps combat feeling fresh across dozens of runs through the labyrinth’s shifting dungeons.
How Long Does a Run Take?
A single successful run takes about 45 to 90 minutes to complete. Because it’s a roguelite, overall playtime heavily depends on playstyle and how quickly you manage to survive the dungeon-crawling floors. On average, players spend roughly 4 hours reaching their first successful win, about 13.5 hours exploring the main story alongside extras, and up to 40 hours if aiming for full completion.
Controller Support
Ziggurat features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers.
Good If You Like…
Ziggurat 2 offers more of the same dungeon-crawling FPS action if this rite of passage leaves you wanting another run. Post Void and ROBOBEAT are also worth a look if Ziggurat’s fast-paced, first-person roguelite combat is what’s calling to you.
