Who Needs Heroes? Newly Launched Laby’s Village Lets The Goblins Take Over

Heroes are overrated. Laby’s Village, which launched today on Steam, puts players in the boots of a goblin officer instead, sending them on a wonderfully absurd campaign through dangerous wastelands, haunted forests, and unforgiving deserts where survival depends as much on your build as your reflexes.

Beneath its cute pixel art sits a fast-paced action game built around experimentation. Every run offers opportunities to combine 58 unique weapons with 277 Demon Relics, creating wildly different builds as you carve through increasingly dangerous enemy hordes. Whether you prefer overwhelming firepower, rapid attacks, or unusual relic combinations, the game is constantly encouraging players to discover what happens when seemingly incompatible upgrades collide.

Boss battles provide the biggest tests along the way, each demanding a different approach rather than simply throwing bigger health bars at the player. That emphasis on adapting your build keeps runs feeling unpredictable, giving players plenty of reasons to jump back in after every defeat.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, though, is the game’s sense of humor. Rather than casting you as another noble hero destined to save the world, Laby’s Village embraces its mischievous premise from the outset. Leading a goblin conquest isn’t exactly the traditional fantasy adventure, and that’s precisely what gives the game its charm.

For players who enjoy action roguelites that reward experimentation as much as quick reactions, Laby’s Village arrives with plenty of tools to tinker with and more than enough monsters standing between Laby and total goblin domination.
