TMNT: Splintered Fate has come a long way since the Turtles first started fighting their way through New York City, and Super Evil Megacorp isn’t slowing down just yet.
The King’s Gambit, otherwise known as Update 2.0, is available now and brings the biggest free content drop Splintered Fate has received to date. We’re talking new levels, new bosses, more story, another adorable ally, and, most importantly, the endgame showdown players have been working toward since the adventure began.
If that wasn’t enough reason to order another pizza and head back underground, Slash has joined the fight as a new playable DLC character too.
The Fight to Save Splinter Isn’t Over Yet
The King’s Gambit picks things up after Shredder’s defeat, but anyone hoping that meant Master Splinter was finally coming home is going to be disappointed.
There’s still another threat hiding in the shadows, sending the Turtles into new areas and toward the real endgame of Splintered Fate’s story. The update adds new levels to battle through and new bosses to take down, with the Rat King among the enemies waiting to make the rescue considerably more difficult.
For players who have already fought their way through everything Splintered Fate has thrown at them, this is the showdown they’ve been waiting for. Super Evil Megacorp is positioning The King’s Gambit as the culmination of the main story, finally bringing the fight to save Splinter to its conclusion.
There’s also a much smaller addition that’s probably going to steal an unreasonable amount of attention. Pepperoni, the baby Protoceratops, has arrived as a new ally.

Slash Smashes His Way Into the Roster
The free update isn’t the only new content arriving.
Slash is now available as a separate playable character DLC, expanding a roster that has already grown considerably since launch with characters including Casey Jones, Metalhead, and Alopex.
Unsurprisingly, Slash isn’t exactly interested in delicately picking his way through enemies. His arrival gives players another fighting style to experiment with and, more importantly for a roguelike, another excuse to start putting together completely different builds.
There’s also a new Samurai Armor Pack available separately, giving every playable hero a new look inspired by classic samurai armor. Both the Slash DLC and armor pack launch alongside The King’s Gambit update.
One Million Copies and Still Growing
The timing of Splintered Fate’s biggest update feels particularly fitting considering how far the game has come. Earlier this year, Super Evil Megacorp announced that TMNT: Splintered Fate had passed one million copies sold worldwide. Since its original Apple Arcade debut, the roguelike has expanded across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, while receiving a steady stream of new characters, modes, story content, and improvements along the way.
The King’s Gambit feels like the payoff to a lot of that work. TMNT: Splintered Fate’s Update 2.0 is available now as a free download for existing players across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Slash and the Samurai Armor Pack available separately.
If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get the Turtles back together for another run, saving Splinter and facing the real threat lurking beneath New York seems like a pretty good one.
