The Bell Echoes Rings Out of Early Access With One Final Chapter Left to Tell

For months, The Bell Echoes has been asking players to dig through battles, memories, and a past nobody seems quite ready to talk about. Today, it finally lets them reach the end.

The story-driven tactical roguelite has left Early Access and reached version 1.0, bringing its final chapter, Dawn of the Future, alongside a new playable companion, another Corrupted Zone, fresh enemies, bosses, and the conclusion to a story that started back in February.

After spending so much time trying to find out what happened 15 years ago, it’s finally time to learn the truth.

One Last Trip Into the Corrupted Lands

The final chapter sends Muge and his companions to Starfall Lake, the place where a major battle took place 15 years earlier. That journey ties together several of the game’s biggest mysteries, including what happened to their father, the truth behind the Ever Bellflower, and the choices made by the generation before them. A character who has already appeared in the story also joins the playable roster, opening up another set of skills and build options for the last stretch.

Starfall Lake isn’t just there for the plot either. It becomes a new Corrupted Zone with its own battlefields, mechanics, elites, enemies, and bosses, giving players another roguelite map to keep returning to once the story dust has settled.

This Isn’t Move, Attack, Repeat

Combat is where The Bell Echoes starts doing things a little differently. Battles take place on compact grids, but your characters aren’t limited to taking a few steps and swinging a sword once before waiting for their next turn.

Each party member has several skills to work with, and you can chain actions together as long as you have the resources to pay for them. Bring three characters into a fight and their abilities can feed into each other, turning one turn into a much larger setup. The battlefield itself gets involved too.

Enemies can be knocked into walls, thrown into objects, pushed onto different terrain, or moved into positions where another character can finish the job. Height and cover matter, while certain skills can create terrain that later becomes a weapon or resource.

Runs Can Send the Same Character in Very Different Directions

Each trip into a Corrupted Zone gives you another chance to change how your party works. Skill Insights can alter the way abilities behave, while talents, equipment, and gems push characters toward different builds. One run might turn a party member into a specialist built around movement and collision damage, while another can send them down a completely different path.

Echoes earned from stronger enemies help move the story forward, while Chapter Memory Fragments dig into the characters themselves. Those memories matter because The Bell Echoes has always been as interested in its cast as it is in clever positioning.

Early Access Added More Than a Few Chapters

When The Bell Echoes first entered Early Access, it launched with three story chapters, five playable characters, three Corrupted Zones, six bosses, and close to 40 enemy types.

The months since have added Chapter 4, Chapter 5, new companions, more zones, equipment changes, balance work, localization improvements, and plenty of adjustments based on player feedback. The developers have also reworked skills, difficulty, tutorials, and combat systems along the way. Now the main story is complete.

There will still be balance changes, bug fixes, and possible future content, but the journey itself has somewhere to end. For a game called The Bell Echoes, it seems fitting that the last thing left to do is see how long that ending sticks with you.
