Voyager has a limited crew, limited resources, and around 70,000 light-years standing between it and home. Obviously, the solution is to try again with an even smaller ship.
The Equinox DLC launches today for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, adding the U.S.S. Equinox as a playable ship alongside three new recruitable characters and an exclusive questline exploring its time in the Delta Quadrant. It arrives alongside the free Q Trials update too, giving you a new way to put all of those limited Starfleet resources to work.
Captain Ransom managed to get himself into quite a lot of trouble out here. Now you can have a go.
The Equinox Has a Slight Space Problem
The U.S.S. Equinox isn’t simply another ship to choose before starting a run in Q Trials. It’s smaller than Voyager, leaving you with less room to build the facilities you need and forcing you to make some decisions about what actually deserves a place onboard. There are fewer crew members available too, along with reduced warp power that makes getting around the Delta Quadrant another thing you’ll need to think about.
That means the Equinox comes with its own set of problems before Q has even had a chance to create any new ones. Anyone who watched Star Trek: Voyager will already know the ship didn’t have a particularly pleasant journey through the Delta Quadrant. Captain Rudolph Ransom and his crew spent years trying to survive after being stranded far from home, eventually making some fairly questionable decisions about how to speed up the journey. You don’t have to repeat those decisions, and it’s probably best if you don’t.
Q Would Like to Make Things More Complicated

The Equinox is playable in Q Trials, a new roguelite mode arriving as a free update alongside the DLC. Instead of replaying the main campaign, Q Trials sends you through randomized routes filled with different events and challenges. You’ll need to manage the ship and its resources while adapting to whatever turns up next, with each run giving you another chance to try a different approach to getting through the Delta Quadrant.
You can also build crews that wouldn’t normally be possible in the main story. Want to fill the ship with Borg? You can.
John de Lancie returns as Q to oversee everything, commenting on your decisions while putting new challenges in front of you. Considering Q is responsible for the trial in the first place, he’s probably not going to be sympathetic when your carefully managed ship starts falling apart.
Ransom Gets Another Trip Through the Delta Quadrant

Picking up the DLC also adds Captain Rudolph Ransom, First Officer Maxwell Burke, and Crewman Noah Lessing as recruitable heroes in Q Trials. They’re joined by Spirits of Good Fortune, an Equinox-exclusive questline that digs further into the ship’s story and what happened to its crew after becoming stranded in the Delta Quadrant.
That gives anyone choosing the Equinox more than simply a harder version of Voyager to manage. You’re getting a ship with its own restrictions, familiar characters from the series, and another look at a crew that dealt with being stranded very differently from Janeway and hers.
The Equinox DLC launches today for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also included as part of the Expansion Pass, while Q Trials arrives as a free update for everyone who owns the base game.
