Space Dingus Is Giving Players More Floors to Regret Exploring

The next major location type coming to Space Dingus is multi-floor bunkers, according to a post from Rocketcat Games this week. The developer plans to share video footage of the new location design next week, offering the first concrete look at how these bunkers will function within the co-op horror road trip’s procedurally generated galaxy.

The studio has been largely quiet on development updates lately, but that silence masks significant behind-the-scenes work. Rocketcat Games cited location generation system tweaks and expanded Choose Your Own Adventure events as the focus of recent work cycles. These aren’t flashy announcements, but they hint at the kind of foundational depth that keeps roguelikes playable across dozens or hundreds of runs.

Space Dingus has leaned heavily on randomization since its premise demanded it: players lead a misfit crew across a procedurally generated star map hunting for a missing planetary defense component. The game randomizes locations, enemies, loot, and narrative events, with rare encounters designed to surprise veteran players well past the 100-hour mark. Multi-floor bunkers expand that vertical design space, potentially offering more complex exploration scenarios than flat location types alone could provide.

For those unfamiliar with Rocketcat’s work, the studio previously shipped Death Road to Canada, another roguelite built on the principle that procedural generation doesn’t mean shallow. Space Dingus supports up to four players in online co-op and lets you import real people into the game via a character creator, then assign them crew roles and send the ones you dislike into the most dangerous missions.

Video breakdowns arrive next week. Until then, the waiting game continues.
