Mankibo’s Montabi, a creature-collector roguelike deckbuilder where positioning dictates strategy, is heading to console. The game arrives on Xbox and Nintendo Switch on August 6th, expanding its reach beyond the PC version which also launches on Steam and itch.io on the same day.
In Montabi, you assemble a team of creatures from a roster of unique monsters, each with their own skill set, and send them into tactical turn-based combat across a 3×3 grid. The team synergies you build, combined with equipment and charms you collect throughout a run, shape your path to victory. As your creatures level up, they evolve into stronger forms and unlock new card abilities, expanding your tactical options.
The game leans hard into positioning and trainer choice, since your selected trainer’s unique playstyle determines whether you’re buffing your team, controlling the board with careful placement, or rushing forward to engage directly. Lose your trainer and the run ends, which keeps the stakes personal in a way that pure creature loss does not.
A demo is available now on Steam for anyone wanting to test the core experience before the console launch. The new trailer showcases starter creatures and their evolutions, and according to the original announcement, August 6th is less than one month away.
