Lootale Slash Adds PvP to Its Free-to-Play Roguelike Formula

Lootale Slash is expanding beyond its roguelite roots with the addition of both a new playable hero and a full PvP mode.

The update is now live as part of the game’s ongoing open beta, giving players a chance to test an entirely new competitive side of the free-to-play action roguelite.

The new hero adds another option to the roster, though it’s the arrival of PvP that represents the bigger shift. Up until now, Lootale Slash has largely focused on the familiar roguelite formula of progressing through runs, collecting upgrades, and experimenting with different builds. Introducing competitive multiplayer changes that dynamic considerably.

Whether that’s a good thing will likely depend on what players are looking for.

For some, PvP offers a new reason to keep playing long after they’ve mastered the existing content. For others, the appeal of roguelites has always been the freedom to experiment without worrying about competing against another player. Finding the right balance between those two experiences won’t be easy.

What’s particularly interesting is how quickly the game appears to be evolving. Lootale Slash only recently entered open beta, yet the developers are already introducing major new systems alongside additional playable content.

The real question is how naturally PvP fits into the game’s existing progression loop. The strongest multiplayer roguelites tend to build competition directly into the core experience rather than treating it as a separate feature.

Players can decide for themselves now that the update is live. At the very least, it signals that the developers have ambitions that stretch beyond a traditional solo roguelite experience.
