Legends of Starkadia Gives Players A New Look At Its Free-To-Play Roguelite

Developer Doom Turtle is taking Legends of Starkadia live for a streamed demo session, signaling momentum ahead of the game’s full launch on Steam. The quirky turn-based RPG, which comes from the studio behind Ember Knights and their recent project Welcome to Harmony, combines strategic combat with quick-time events as players lead a ragtag resistance against the Starkadian Empire and its leader Niko.

The free-to-play title on Steam casts you as an Earthling teen accidentally teleported into an interdimensional conflict, where you’ll unlock and play as 12 distinct characters across a sprawling universe. Each character brings unique attributes and skills to turn-based battles that reward both tactical positioning and split-second reflexes through its QTE system.

The demo available now covers a single planet and runs roughly two hours, giving prospective players a taste of what the full experience promises: 11 planets to explore from Scrap World to Starkadia itself, multiple secret and side missions, and a story the team has fully written but is still developing for release. This measured approach, where Doom Turtle is showcasing incomplete work through both live streaming and downloadable demos, reflects the indie studio’s confidence in the core gameplay loop while being transparent about the work ahead.

For roguelike and turn-based RPG fans hunting their next strategic adventure, the live demo stream offers a direct look at how Doom Turtle is balancing narrative depth with action-driven combat mechanics.
