The developers behind Kill The Sea have released a playable demo on Steam following five months of work. According to the team posting on Reddit, the demo is now available for download and testing.
Kill The Sea is a seafaring sandbox survivors-like, built around auto-shooter mechanics. You command a heavily armed vessel across hostile waters, managing cargo, recruiting crew members, upgrading outposts, and completing quests to survive encounters with legendary beasts and unpredictable ocean conditions.
The demo includes three of the seven planned sea regions, three of seven seacrafts, and a roster of ten crew members pulled from the full Early Access lineup of fourteen. You’ll also find ten weapons (out of twenty-eight on the roadmap), eighteen items (thirty-five total planned), and three boss fights to face.
Each crew member features unique abilities and promotion paths that shift your tactical options and combat approach. The store listing emphasizes synergy-building between upgrades and crew builds, suggesting the systems are designed to reward experimentation and risky strategies.
The developers are seeking player feedback on the demo as development continues toward Early Access. More regions, vessels, crew members, weapons, enemies, and bosses will roll out over time as the project moves forward.
