AllRogues is a news, review, opinion, and game listing site that loves the rogue community. It’s built by fans of the genre for fans of the genre, but it wouldn’t be any fun without an active community – and that means you!
If you’ve taken a moment to look around the site you have probably noticed the mention of an Aura shop. You may have even seen Aura at work, whether it’s a colored name in the comments, a title sitting under someone’s handle, a rank that follows a reviewer wherever they post, or maybe even a welcome email about Auras when you create your account. Here is what all of it means, and how you can start earning your own.
Aura is the name of the points you earn for being part of AllRogues. Every time you are active on the site, whether it’s leaving a review on a game you have played, jumping into the comments, showing up and adding to the conversation in the forums, you build Aura – absolutely free. When you first create your account and log in you receive Aura, and when you visit or share an article you receive Aura. Think of it like it’s own game, where every run builds toward something: the more you put in, the further you climb, and the more Aura you receive.
And there is a climb. Your Aura moves you up through five ranks, themed after the loot you already know:
Cursed is where every run begins.
Common is you finding your footing.
Rare marks a familiar face around the site.
Legendary is a pillar of the community.
Ascended is the top of the ladder, and we don’t expect that many reach it.
Your rank rides along with you across the site, so the more you contribute, the more it shows. But this is more than just some fancy virtual numbers on your profile page, it’s your key to free goodies later on down the line.
Earning Aura is only half of it. The Aura Shop is where you spend what you have banked:
Username colors make your name stand out wherever you post.
Titles give you a custom flourish under your handle.
Effects add a bit of special flair to your presence around the community.
Game keys and Giveaways are the real prize: actual keys for actual games, claimed with the Aura you have earned. Your participation can be used to purchase real game keys or you can use your aura to enter real contests to earn virtual or physical rewards.
Cosmetics are yours to keep once you buy them, and they will be rotated on a monthly and seasonal basis. You equip what you own from your item bag in your profile, one active color, one title, and one effect can be equipped at a time, and you can swap them whenever the mood strikes. Some of the better items sit behind a lifetime-Aura threshold, and require higher ranks to obtain, so the longer you have been earning, the more opens up.
Game keys work a little differently. They are claimed one at a time and first come, first served, so once a code is yours, no one else can take it. When you buy one, the key is revealed to you and saved to your account, ready whenever you want to redeem it.
You do not need to do anything special to begin. Read articles that interest you, review the games you have played, weigh in on the discussions, or simply visit the site every so often and your Aura builds as you go. All you need to do is create your very own account and keep an eye on your balance in the shop. In no time that color, title, or game key you have been eyeing, and working towards will be yours.
