Indie Lido Games Launches Blades of Four on Steam Today

If you’re into supporting fledgling developers, and have an extra 3 dollars to spare, you might be interested in picking up this simplistic rogue Blades of Four. The title pits players against a brutal fantasy world where developer LIDO Games states that no two runs will play out the same way. It’s more of a passion project than anything, but it could still be the right fit for the right rogue player.

You’ll choose from four unique heroes, each equipped with their own combat style and two powerful abilities, then battle through dangerous enemies across three distinct maps. Combat centers on swords, bows, and special powers, with progression shaped entirely by which items you collect and which builds you construct along the way.

Announcement from LIDO GAMES via Steam Discord

Unlike traditional action games, Blades of Four folds roguelike structure into its combat loop. Defeat enemies and you level up, unlocking powerful items that transform your abilities and playstyle with every attempt. The randomized progression system means survival through increasingly difficult encounters demands constant adaptation. Discovering devastating ability combinations becomes the core reward cycle, and each failed run feeds into the next.

However, the game only supports single-player and is relatively slow in gameplay. Videos show a slower pace to combat, which may be worthwhile for fans of the genre who aren’t exactly enamored with bullet hell options. Steam notes it is currently learning about the title, meaning user reviews haven’t yet populated the store page, and if LIDO Games previous titles are any indication, you likely won’t find many reviews in the near future. Still, it’s a roguelike with a dream and a current release.
