One of the best things about Steam is that you never quite know what a release day is going to look like. Some days are dominated by a single blockbuster, while others there’s a huge variety of releases with everything from cozy puzzles to addictive deckbuilders and chaotic dungeon crawlers.
Today’s lineup definitely falls into the second camp. So many games are making their debut today from zoo-themed deckbuilders to panic-typing bullet heavens. If you’re looking for something new to play, we’ve compiled 10 rogue games releasing today you won’t want to miss.
1. Zoominoes
If you enjoy deckbuilders that let you chase ridiculously high scores, Zoominoes looks like it could be a lot of fun. Instead of building a deck of cards, you’re creating the ultimate zoo by collecting everything from everyday animals to powerful mythical creatures, then boosting them with snacks, souvenirs, and permanent upgrades to create increasingly outrageous combos.
It doesn’t stop there either. You can manipulate the board itself to push your score even higher, tackle special weekly events that shake up each run, or keep the momentum going in Endless Mode once you’ve completed a full month.
With 159 animals to discover, three different zookeepers to master, seeded runs, and eight difficulty levels, there’s plenty here for players who love optimizing every last point.
2. Bringers of Darkness (Early Access)
Survivor-likes usually cast you as the hero trying to save the world. Bringers of Darkness flips that idea on its head by putting you in control of the villains instead. Rather than defending the kingdoms of light, you’ll be leading the forces determined to bring them crashing down, choosing from champions like the Death Knight, Succubus, Vampire, and Dark Elf as you battle through relentless enemy hordes.
Launching into Early Access today, the game already features multiple heroes, build-focused progression, and a growing collection of abilities that encourage experimentation across repeated runs. The developers also have ambitious plans for future updates, including additional playable heroes, unique ultimate abilities, new maps, progression systems, endgame content, and more ways for players to shape the game’s future through feedback.
3. Random Dragons
There’s no shortage of deckbuilders on Steam these days, so it’s always refreshing to see one built around an idea that immediately stands out. Created over a period of a year by solo developer
Shrey Patil, Random Dragons does exactly that by replacing predictable card effects with a roulette wheel, giving every attack the chance to become something much bigger. The trick is learning how to manipulate those odds, increasing your critical rate and stacking effects to create some truly ridiculous combos.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a dragon-themed adventure without a memorable cast of enemies. As you climb toward the Boss Dragons, you’ll come face-to-face with everything from Banana Dragons to Gun Dragons and plenty of other wonderfully bizarre creations. Throw in unique egg power-ups and a healthy dose of controlled chaos, and this could be one to watch if you enjoy deckbuilders that embrace a little randomness.
4. Crazy Coin Poker
If someone asked what would happen if you combined poker, a coin pusher machine, and a roguelike, Crazy Coin Poker would probably be the answer. It’s an unusual combination, but one that revolves around building huge payouts by launching coins, creating stronger poker hands, and stacking buffs that send your multipliers climbing higher and higher.
The roguelike progression comes from more than 50 different buffs that can completely reshape the rules of poker. Some give you extra hole cards or community cards, while others skew the odds in your favor or dramatically increase your rewards. Add in the satisfying feedback of coins, lights, and over-the-top visual effects, and this looks like the kind of game that’s sure to become highly addictive.
5. Star Dice
Dice have become a popular foundation for roguelikes over the past few years, but Star Dice does things a little differently by turning them into the engine that powers your entire spaceship. Every run revolves around a 3×3 grid of customizable dice, with horizontal, vertical, and diagonal connections all contributing to your score. The challenge isn’t just getting lucky rolls, it’s building a system where every roll has the potential to trigger an enormous chain reaction.
There’s plenty of room to experiment too. You can customize your dice, collect more than 180 relics, enchant them to create even stronger synergies, and unlock over 10 different spaceships with their own unique playstyles. If you’re the kind of player who enjoys discovering builds that completely break the game’s scoring system, Star Dice looks like it has plenty to offer.
6. SLAMPUNKS
Survivor-likes don’t usually encourage you to throw your teammates at the enemy, but that’s exactly what SLAMPUNKS encourages you to do. Designed for one to three players, this chaotic co-op roguelite lets you tether yourself to friends, launch them into swarms of enemies, and chain abilities together to create increasingly ridiculous combos. Even when you’re playing solo, each hero comes with their own distinct abilities, making every run feel a little different.
The action is wrapped around 30-minute heist runs with randomized objectives, permanent progression, dozens of augments, and plenty of unlockable modifiers to keep things fresh. Throw in the ability to swap between top-down and third-person perspectives mid-run, and SLAMPUNKS already feels like one of today’s more unusual launches, especially if you’ve got friends looking for their next co-op obsession.
7. How Many Dudes
Sometimes a game’s title tells you almost everything you need to know. How Many Dudes is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, asking questions like how many dudes it takes to defeat a gorilla, a thousand toddlers, or even a god. The answer comes from building an ever-growing army of 42 unique Dude types, mixing together wildly different abilities to create increasingly overpowered team compositions.
The strategy lies in discovering the synergies hidden beneath the mayhem. Zombie Dudes explode when they’re hit, Ninja Dudes bombard enemies with shurikens, and Cowboy Dudes can lasso allies out of danger, while relics and trinkets open the door to even more outrageous combinations. With hundreds of items, multiple challenge tiers, daily runs, and more than 850,000 possible team compositions, this is one for players who love experimenting with broken builds.
8. Magical Hellhound Lust (Early Access)
Launching into Early Access today, Magical Hellhound Lust combines fast-paced action RPG combat with roguelite progression in a hand-crafted fantasy world. You play as the Magebane, battling the succubi Sisterhood to reclaim the Black Fire, an ancient source of magic that grants access to three distinct power paths: Sun, Moon, and Ash. Each one dramatically changes how you fight, whether you prefer agile melee attacks, devastating magic, or overwhelming brute force.
Outside of combat, there’s plenty more to discover. The game features story-driven characters, relationship building, optional challenge modifiers for players looking to push their builds further, and even couch co-op or Remote Play Together support. With multiple progression paths and the freedom to mix the Black Fire’s different aspects together, it already offers plenty of room for experimentation as development continues through Early Access.
9. 8 Ball Pool: Play Together
If you’re looking for a good Co-Op or PVP game to get stuck into, 8 Ball Pool: Play Together is a great choice. Whether you’re playing against friends on the same device, challenging opponents online, or sharpening your skills against AI, the focus here is on recreating the feel of a real game of pool.
Developed by Red Suns Tech, there are a few extra touches that help it stand out too. You’ll need to keep your cue chalked to maintain accuracy, spectators react to your best and worst shots inside the lively bar setting, and a progression system unlocks new cosmetic rewards as you improve. If you’re looking for something a little slower paced after a hard day, this could be worth sinking a few hours into.
10. Typomagical
Few games launching today have a hook quite as memorable as Typomagical. Instead of clicking your way through enemy hordes, you’re frantically typing words to cast spells, combining them on the fly to create more than 30,000 possible spell combinations. It’s a clever idea that turns your typing speed into just as important a skill as your build choices.
You play as a bear cub apprentice mage trying to survive until dawn, with each 15-minute run rewarding coins that can be spent on permanent spells and upgrades after defeat. Between the huge number of word combinations, unlockable progression, leaderboards, and planned post-launch updates, Typomagical feels like one of today’s most original roguelike releases.
Plenty to Keep You Busy
Whether it’s building the ultimate zoo, launching your friends into enemy swarms, typing spells faster than you can think, or discovering just how many dudes it takes to defeat a gorilla, today’s Steam lineup proves there’s no shortage of creativity in the roguelike genre.
