Factomancer Says Yes to Pausing After Player Feedback

Factomancer, the factory-automation roguelite currently in demo, now supports pausing during runs. Voltige Games announced the feature on Reddit after more than a month of player testing, citing repeated requests across Steam reviews, the community hub, and Discord.

The developers initially designed Factomancer as a no-pause experience, layering real-time pressure atop the roguelite’s inherent tension. According to the team’s statement, that dual pressure system proved counterproductive. The no-pause design kept some players from engaging with the game at all, creating a dealbreaker rather than a source of strategic difficulty.

Voltige Games tested the pause feature internally and with their community before rolling it out, ensuring it would integrate naturally with the pacing and pressure that define the core experience.

The results were positive across all player types.

So, if the absence of pause previously blocked you from trying Factomancer, the demo is now available for another run. The game tasks you with building production chains across magical territories, optimizing factories, and adapting to procedural events. Each day is time-limited, and failure feeds into progression through a roguelite structure.

Those interested can also join the Factomancer Discord community to follow ongoing development. Voltige Games has indicated that pacing and pressure remain central to the design, with further balance work ahead.
